The Australian dollar drifted lower against its major counterparts in the New York session on Thursday.

The aussie dropped to 1.5989 against the euro and 0.7701 against the greenback, off its early high of 1.5874 and a 6-day high of 0.7784, respectively.

The aussie slipped to a 4-month low of 81.18 against the yen and a 2-day low of 1.0658 against the kiwi, down from its previous high of 82.43 and a weekly high of 1.0762, respectively.

The next possible support for the aussie is seen around 1.61 against the euro, 0.76 against the greenback, 80.00 against the yen and 1.05 against the kiwi.
