The President of Airbus SE's (AIR.FR) commercial-aircraft business Guillaume Faury says production of the company's popular A320 single-aisle plane will increase further and should reach 63 aircraft a month in 2021.

Airbus this year will reach production of 60 planes a month but had not yet formally committed to higher output.

The Toulouse, France-based plane maker had explored even higher production rates, including building more than 70 A320s a month in the future. But Mr. Faury, who is due to become Airbus chief executive in April, said the company is moderating its ambition over supply-chain concerns. In particular, he told analysts, engine makers have signaled producing that many planes may not be feasible.

Airbus deliveries last year were disrupted when A320 engine suppliers United Technologies Corp. (UTX) and a joint venture of General Electric Co. (GE) and France's SAFRAN SA (SAF.FR) struggled to meet commitments.
