RNS Number:6006U Ramco Energy PLC 23 January 2004 23 January 2004 FURTHER UPDATE ON LEGAL ACTION IN THE UNITED STATES As previously reported, Ramco was named in an action against a group of defendants including Halliburton, raised by the Anglo Dutch Petroleum companies, controlled by Houston resident Scott van Dyke and his mother Theresa van Dyke. Ramco announced on 27 October 2003 that the jury had delivered a verdict with a finding against Halliburton of $64 million, a finding against Ramco of $6.4 million and a finding that there was a partnership between the two companies. The trial judge has now entered a judgement that has upheld the $70.4 million award and has added $26 million in pre-judgement interest and $9.8 million for legal costs. As previously intimated, Ramco will now appeal vigorously the entire judgement (including the finding of partnership) through the intermediate Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Texas. Both the review and appellate processes are conducted by judges without the involvement of a jury. Ramco's co-defendant Halliburton has posted a bond which has the effect of preventing enforcement of the judgement until the appeal process has been exhausted.
