--Italy wants to sell branches of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA before re-privatizing the entire bank, Bloomberg reports, citing unnamed sources.
--The sale would be part of the lender's restructuring plan, which needs to be approved by the European Union. Mediocredito Centrale - Banca Del Mezzogiorno SpA has been identified as a buyer for up to a few dozen branches in southern Italy, Bloomberg reports.
--Italy is also looking to replace MPS Chief Executive Officer Guido Bastianini, according to Bloomberg.
