Not arguing with your comments FF but I suspect that Hydrogen is the one to watch as far as vehicles are concerned in the future.

Electricity generation is great for solar panels on houses + wind power generation etc and when they eventually get this on going battery situation sorted will be even better.

The only fly in the ointment are the basic metals to produce batteries etc.

Producing carbon composite cylinders is not green. Carbon fibre requires very high temperatures in its manufacture ie very large amounts of energy. Kevlar and high modulus polythene less so.

Powering aircraft with hydrogen is one of the few uses for hydrogen that may be sound imho. The problem with hydrogen is producing it in an energy efficient way, however for aircraft fueling its low mass may outweigh its highish cost of production.

Land vehicles will be powered by electricity from batteries or wires imho.
