Key industry representatives will discuss the future of this sector in Sri Lanka and mark the official launch of 'Sri Lanka Pharma Week'.

Sri Lanka Pharma Week will address the industry's burning issues: Bioavailability and Bioequivalence requirements, Pharma Sales Force Effectiveness and Automation, and finishing on the topic of Pharma Supply Chain and Distribution. Industry experts will provide their understanding of the given topics on display, while demonstrating relevant procedures through case studies and speeches to delegates. Here's a quick insight on what the speakers at this event have to say about these issues in Sri Lanka

Mr K ShivKumar, Managing Director, Eisai Pharmaceuticals India, talks about the SFE and SFA in pharmaceutical business, "SFE will be the key in exploiting the expanding SL market. SFE will help in targeting the right customers by the sales force by answering the key questions like - which markets, which target audience, why and how, how often and with the right message.  SFE will decide who will be the winners and losers"

Mr Himanshu Saxena, Vice President Supply Chain International Business, Alembic Pharmaceuticals says "Supply chain and distribution is the most critical aspect of the pharmaceutical business to ensure that drugs are delivered to the end patient quickly and in safe conditions". He adds that "Even if the manufacturing and production of drugs is done using GMP norms, the products remain unfit for consumption if the safety of the drugs is compromised en route to the end patient and since the pharmaceutical organisations in Sri Lanka are custodians of the products, it is imperative that they ensure efficient distribution network so that the patients can consume quality drugs and in time." When asked about his views on the Sri Lanka pharma week, here's what he had to say "Emerging countries like Sri Lanka can draw learnings on novel strategies adopted by countries like India who have passed this stage and are still successfully dealing with similar infrastructure issues in some of the states. At this forum, the Indian pharma supply chain experts would be discussing practical implementable technologies to manage the supply chain to maintain adequate stocks and manage demand cycles. This would eventually reduce the pressure on the business and ensure that the sales are not affected."

Bansri Shah, Managing Director, UBM (CPhI) says "We are grateful to Mr. Shalutha and the Pharmaceutical Society of Sri Lanka for their help and support towards the development of 'Sri Lanka Pharma Week'.

"It also gives me immense pleasure to bring our largest brand CPhI to the rapidly growing industry in Sri Lanka and we would like to extend a warm invitation to the pharmaceutical fraternity to participate in this knowledge sharing."
