Posted at 23/6/2008 21:22 by loganair I had a few quid as a punt, not too much. I always thought that LAN were in a worse position then SUY and would be the first to go and therefore a slim possibility that SUY might, just might survive. |
Posted at 21/6/2008 22:20 by warrenc I guess its crunch time for SCS this week . They've got to announce something with regards to fund raising or administration , with month end looming . Looking at LOL i can see there fund raising failing if the share price stays sub 5p . |
Posted at 19/6/2008 17:28 by loganair If LAN do go down in the next few days, imo will give at least a short term boost in the share price of SUY.LAN's share price is now below their Placing Offer price. As LAN say in their RNS: "In the absence of the Issue completing the Company is unlikely to be able to continue to trade in its current form." In otherwords I understand this to mean if their Placing Offer is not taken up they've gone bust... Just before the end of todays play L&G dumped their last remaining shares in LAN, so they for one will not be taking up the offer. |
Posted at 19/6/2008 16:52 by loganair Boffster - Possibly a good call.Todays statistics. At the start of todays play: SUY 5 1/2p ... LAN 9 3/4p At the end of todays play..: SUY 6 1/2p ... LAN 4 3/4p So todays winner is LAN with an over 50% drop in their sp, even though a RNS saying they have a £15m refinance package in place. Will LAN make a final push and go for Broke tomorrow. |
Posted at 19/6/2008 16:23 by boffster It looks like LAN are going to win the race.. share price falling below offer price. I suspected they would be the first to turn up their toes. I think its just a case of when the shutters come down now.The question is, lets be harsh and say LAN's sales are 50% of what they were, and SUY's probably 70%, will the reduced competiton, along with some kind of fundraising, be enough to see SUY through? |
Posted at 19/6/2008 09:45 by loganair Both SUY & LAN share price 6 1/2p. Neck and neck so far to the losing post. |
Posted at 19/6/2008 00:08 by csmwssk1 CSMWSSK1 - 14 Jan'08 - 09:46 - 250 of 512 edit20% drop in lfl cannot be accomadated by any business what alot of tosh, what do you do ask the landlords to take a 20% cut in rent and the council a 20% cut in business rates, they are fixed costs and are the biggest costs to any retailer, more than wages. kiwihope - 14 Jan'08 - 10:10 - 251 of 512 ... let's just wait and see shall we ... ydderF - 27 Mar'08 - 04:33 - 302 of 512 kiwihope/Arthur L - but inventories have increased by 3.8m, and they have said that the exceptional spend on advertising was all in the first half with benefits in the second (we are already 1/3 into the second half and the statement says confident of profitability in second half). Against this background, if inventories hadn't risen it would be worrying. csmwsski - it is certain the SCS can't go bust by the 31st March, but they may go bust in future, but this possibility seems to be well provided for in the current share price. Looking at the figures and statement I think the company now has time to manage themselves out of the crisis, which is what the statement suggests they are doing....Thing is, if they don't go bust it is likely that this will be a ten bagger over 3/5 years, so as I see it, the play is a bet on the probability of each outcome, even if you believe the odds are 50/50 it is an attractive gamble to a risk seeking investor....we'll see |
Posted at 12/6/2008 17:04 by warrenc roommove when you make your millions with scs perhaps you could switch sides and bail out lol . Expenditure rising , sales , margins and cashpile shrinking . These are true facts . Can anyone really see banks bailing them out because they need cash and quick . Rights issue at current share price is virtually impossible . No assets of any real value . This will go bust . At current share price the directors would be buying shares by the millions if they were confident . The economy is a bruttle machine that gets rid of the weaker players in times like this , not just retail sector but every sector . Apart from oil stocks theres not much to invest in at the moment . Every sector is getting battered because most are overvalued or struggling . Combine all this with the price of oil and this year and next will be the toughest this country has seen for decades . The next thing is scs and lol will be asked to clarify there trading position , when they admit how bad things really are its gameover . I cannot see either getting to the end of the month . |
Posted at 12/6/2008 13:07 by grigor roommove - I'm watching banks, house building, construction, real estate and related shares such as SUY.I've no position in SUY and I wouldn't gamble on buying now. If you wait until there are signs of a recovery, you may miss out on some of the gains but you would avoid the risk of the company failing. I'm mostly invested in mid-cap oil and oil service companies with some soft commodity and emerging market plays. I'm keeping some cash up my sleeve and will review all these beaten up shares in 2009-2010. |
Posted at 31/12/2007 08:41 by ydderf the share price will go nowhere until L and G get rid of their holding...as to LGD - no, just a loss in a year which ended in overall profit - SUY is an INVESTMENT crookney, i.e you buy a wad of the shares and carry on with your life (if you have one outside of footsballs), glancing occasionally over the next 3 years or so at the share price until it reaches your target of a fiver, whereupon you sell and buy a house in the Cote with the profits........ |
