The brokerage says the merger with gambling peer Paddy Power addresses earlier concerns and has integration and revenue synergy opportunities. "Post-merger we believe that management has positioned the business to return to a positive earnings trajectory having put attainable cost-cutting targets into the market," Numis writes. For the same reason, Paddy Power is moved to buy from hold. Betfair adds 0.3% and trades at 3269p. |

There are two big uncertainties here first is the rush by internet gaming sites to get punters and the huge spending on marketing and freebies. the second is that the UK want to tax internet betting based on where the punter is (they found something that wasn't heavily taxed). So this will be on the punter IP address location. Also GCHQ and NSA are monitoring everyone's internet activity and HMG need ever increasing amounts of money to pay for this. This will put many people off betting and encourage some smaller outfits to ignore the tax. These are both hitting PAP. |
Posted at 19/11/2013 08:33 by martinc Traditionally, it's been a good time to buy PAP when they have bad sports results, because one year's bad results is followed by the next year's good results. But I don't think the longer term growth rate seems to be looking so good now. |

Posted at 23/5/2012 13:37 by whites10 I think (hope) this will rise steadily for a while yet, even allowing for the market jitters. Good balance sheet and outlook is positive - ok the PE could be seen as a little high by some but other indicators (PEG, price to sales ect) still makes this reasonably cheap. All my opinion of course which is about as worthless as everybody else's! |
