UK consumer confidence index declined more than anticipated in October

In the UK, the consumer confidence index dropped to a level of -31.00 in October, compared to a reading of -25.00 in the previous month. Markets were expecting the index to decline to a level of -28.

Euro-zone consumer confidence index dropped in October

In the Euro-zone, the flash consumer confidence index recorded a drop to -15.50 in October, compared to a level of -13.90 in the previous month. Market anticipations were for the consumer confidence index to ease to a level of -15.00.

US existing home sales rose more than expected in September

In the US, existing home sales climbed 9.40% on a MoM basis in September, compared to a revised rise of 2.00% in the prior month. Markets were expecting existing home sales to climb 5.00%.

US leading indicator advanced as expected in September

In the US, leading indicator climbed 0.70% on a MoM basis in September, as expected and compared to a revised rise of 1.40% in the prior month.

US number of initial jobless claims unexpectedly dropped in the week ended 17 October 2020

In the US, seasonally adjusted number of initial jobless claims unexpectedly eased to a level of 787.00 K in the week ended 17 October 2020, compared to a revised reading of 842.00 K in the previous week. Markets were expecting initial jobless claims to record a rise to a level of 860.00 K.
