UK Halifax house price index advanced more than expected in December
The Halifax house price index in the UK recorded a rise of 2.20% on a monthly basis in December, higher than market expectations for a rise of 0.50%. The index had dropped by a revised 1.20% in the previous month.
Euro-zone services sentiment index declined in December
The services sentiment index in the Euro-zone dropped to a level of 12.00 in December, compared to market expectations of a fall to a reading of 12.30. In the previous month, the index had registered a revised reading of 13.40.
Euro-zone consumer confidence index dropped in December
In the Euro-zone, the final consumer confidence index dropped to a level of -6.20 in December, meeting market expectations. In the prior month, the index had recorded a reading of -3.90.
German industrial production unexpectedly dropped in November
The seasonally adjusted industrial production in Germany unexpectedly dropped 1.90% on a monthly basis, in November, compared to a revised fall of 0.80% in the previous month. Markets were expecting industrial production to climb 0.30%.
US small business optimism index slid in December
The NFIB small business optimism index in the US fell to a level of 104.40 in December, compared to market expectations of a drop to a reading of 103.00. In the previous month, the index had registered a reading of 104.80.
