NEW YORK, Dec. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/
-- The 2017 International (China-US) Youth
Basketball Spectacular by Camsing Global and the Sino-American
Friendship Association (SAFA), successfully ended
recently in Beijing, China.
Three of the top U.S. high school basketball
teams, including the Montverde Academy, Providence Day School
and Chaminade College Prep, were invited to
Beijing to compete against four of China's top high school basketball teams and
two CBA youth teams:
Beijing Tsinghua University High School, Beijing No.4 School,
Beijing Zhongguangcun School, Beijing No.22
School, Baiyi Youth and Beijing Shougang Youth
team in a four-day tournament.
The USA top ranked team,
Montverde, won the friendly competition. Providence Day, Baiya
Youth and Chaminade came in the second,
third and fourth, respectively.
China had some of their
top prospects playing, but it was clear the
American youth talent is still far superior. For all
the Chinese teams, the game is undoubtedly a valuable opportunity
to learn the coaching, concepts and methods of basketball in the
United States.
This experience allows the Chinese players to
broaden their horizons in the future development of
basketball to achieve higher goals. As for the
American teams, it is more an educational and
cultural experience than a
tournament. Players experienced a once in a
lifetime opportunity, participating in various Chinese
cultural activities including visiting the Great
Wall, the Forbidden City, learning Chinese pottery
making, Kongfu and attending basketball clinics
with Chinese students.
Seeing the positive interaction between Chinese
and American players, coaches, school executives and
sponsors were very pleased.
"The success of a country relies on our people and the
youth we see in front of us today are the people of our
future," said Peter Zhang, President of the
Sino-American Friendship Association, (SAFA).
"Sports is very influential for our youth, in both
China and the United States, so using basketball as a
channel for educational opportunity will have a much bigger
impact," Zhou, Hongyi, vice president
of Camsing Global, added. "Friendship First,
Competition Second, the International Youth Basketball Spectacular
can serve as the bridge to opening a new channel
for the cultural exchange."
"We are also looking at opportunities to have Chinese players
visit the U.S. schools to continue the friendship and skilled
practice necessary for advancement of the IYBS program,"
Shane Duffy, CEO of Camsing Global
Entertainment, added.
