Deutsche Bank AG (DBK.XE) Chief Executive Christian Sewing on Friday joined the long list of senior financial executives who have changed plans and decided not to go to the Future Investment Initiative conference in Riyadh next week, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Mr. Sewing had planned to meet with clients at the conference in Saudi Arabia but has decided not to go, given mounting details over the past few days about the alleged death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, the person said.

Turkish officials say Mr. Khashoggi was killed by Saudi agents in Istanbul this month, an accusation that Saudi Arabia denies.

Mr. Sewing's change of plans follows cancellations to attend the event by other European bank CEOs, including the heads of HSBC Holdings PLC, Credit Suisse Group AG and Societe Generale SA.

Wall Street executives including JP Morgan Chase & Co. CEO James Dimon and BlackRock Inc. CEO Laurence Fink also withdrew from the conference.
