BMW AG (BMW.XE) said Thursday that Germany's Motor Transport Authority has deemed its 320d car model compliant with all national legal requirements.

The authority, known as KBA, published test results on BMW's 320d vehicle and confirmed that it "fully complies with all legal requirements," the car company said.

KBA conducted the tests following criticism by environmental lobby Deutsche Umwelthilfe, which had alleged that the car had been equipped with a defeat device to dodge diesel-emissions regulation.

The tests that Deutsche Umwelthilfe conducted that showed higher emissions don't reflect "normal operating conditions," KBA said in a statement on its website.

"As a matter of principle, BMW Group vehicles are not manipulated and comply with all respective legal requirements," said Klaus Froehlich, a board member responsible for development at BMW.
