Barclays have recently sent me a UK Consolidated Valuation Report, which confirms that the funds went to my nominated bank account after the "Merger of Antrim Energy Inc. with" & that the "Investment Portfolio Execution Only"is now closed!!!!!!!!!!!
Just could not make it up - though they seem to be able to !!!!!!!!!!
snape - The document came from 1, Churchill Place, Canary Wharf, LONDON, E14 5HP & if you write direct to "Private Clients - Execution only" stating that you will take this to the ombudsman service, you may just get a sensible reply - EVENTUALLY!!!!!

Rather than Sharegift the problem relates to Barclays setting up Smartinvestor. They couldn't transfer Antrim so it seems to have got stuck in a dormant account. Am still confident that i will get the cash plus compensation though staggered at how useless they are.

That's ridiculous if it's what Barclays have done, especially for AEY shares which had an auditable trail of still having 'value'. You have to nominate a Sharegift of any stock at ii. Recently closed account with them and I had one stock at the end, totally worthless, but I still had to nominate it to charity, they couldn't do it without my instructions.

It might be that your security was transferred to ShareGift, a charity. Barclays might have considered the security worthless after the dissolution of Antrim Energy.

My shares were transferred by my broker and I asked for the cash to be recovered from the charity. If anyone has a Suffolk Life MasterSIPP let me know as the fees have gone up.

Snape I sympathise - Barclays woefully bad. Keep pressing and they should offer you 8% interest pro rata for the horrendous settlement delay (same figure the ombudsman would use) and, as enfranglais says, compensation for the dreadful hassle involved in trying to sort them out. Hope it resolves successfully for you.

Try this e mail address if you are still waiting for Barclays & demand at least £100 compensation.

SmartInvestorComplaints@barclays.com

I am following up on my previous email to clarify if you have received the funds yet.

These should have arrived on or around 5 September as it usually takes around ten working days to complete.

Also, I had arranged for £100 to be paid to your nominated account as well in recognition of the issues you experienced with this payment.

This should have credited around 23 August so when you have a moment are you able to check if this has arrived.

Many thanks

Neil

fb - beats talking to the wife at least!!!!!!!!!!!!
Remember Barcs clients, ask for compensation & just state you will take this to the ombudsman service - their £100 & £200 compensation offers to me have added up to nearly £2,000 since the so called smart investor started - incompetent fools!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Barclays finally paid me this morning. Never known such a cavalier attitude to customer money. The last time I'm a client of any part of Barclays.

Actually rec`d my funds today at 0.0342873 sterling per share (100,000).
Also rec`d £100 compensation a few weeks ago for the delays & my time taken to resolve issue (from smart investor) & still chasing further compensation from Barclayshare Private clients.
For you friends information, i was in smart investor (which does not hold foreign stocks) & my Antrim shares were held in a Barclays stockbokers private clients execution only account & i rec`d quarterly consolidated valuation reports.
As an example of their incompetence, they had the book cost of 100,000 shares at 326,200,000.00 CAD & the unrealised gain as £178,984.910.84!!!!!!!
Pity their incompetence did not run to paying out the £179 million, or i would have sent it abroad & they would not have seen me for dust!!!!!!!!!!!!
All the best to anyone having to deal with the barstewards & only keep a few duds with Barclays now for the compensation trail - running into the thousands now!!!!!!!!!

Just FYI, I know someone else who has yet to receive their funds from Barclays and their customer service has been appalling. They have had many phone calls with them and after a lot of wasted time there is still no resolution. Another message has been sent to them by email, some excerpts below:

"Barclays are unable to locate my Antrim shares as they believe the company liquidation coincided with the Barclays migration to Smart Investor and things have fallen between the cracks. Barclays gave me details of Saxo Bank as they thought the shares may have been transferred to them. Saxo had not heard of me but were extrememly polite and professional in helping me.

Barclays now think my shares are held in a 'container' account."

Barclays have been asked the following questions:
"
1. Have Barclays found my Antrim Shares?
2. Have the shares been converted into funds?
3. How do I get hold of these funds?
4. What other of my share holdings have fallen between the cracks in the migration to Smart Investor in 2017?"

If there is any any news I'll try to report it back here.

I've been chasing and today got the money at last. Not broker's fault, as the cash distribution was gifted to a charity on instruction by my SIPP administrator.

Today brought a happy ending. I hope all you Barclays' clients get the cash soon.
