How sure can we be of Exxon staying with Canje? It sounds like they are concentrating on Stabroek which has plenty more and less risky potential.

Ah well. Interesting RNS with Exxon and Hess giving up their share of the Kaieteur Block. Ratio Guyana (owned by Ratio Petroleum) are already in talks with other major oil companies and there is a time schedule before the licenses run out.

Read another way, Exxon intend to go ahead with drilling the Canje Block. It's still all to play for!!!

Overreaction to Eco's duster? Effective paper loss is £300,000, but I'm sure Eco will rise again.

I wonder whether Apache's announcement today has any implications for the prospectivity of the Canje block - good to see a positive result in Block 53 which is downdip and eastward of Stabroek and Block 58?

Offshore staff

HOUSTON — APA Corp. has made its first oil discovery in Block 53 offshore Suriname.

The Noble Gerry de Souza drilled the Baja-1 well in 1,140 m (3,740 ft) of water and to a subsurface depth of 5,290 m (17,356 ft), with the well intersecting 34 m (112 ft) of net oil pay in a single interval in the Campanian.

Initial fluid and log analysis shows a light oil with a gas-oil ratio (GOR) of 1,600 cf/bbl to 2,200 cf/bbl in a good-quality reservoir. The discovery is a downdip lobe of the same depositional system as the Krabdagu discovery, drilled 11.5 km to the west in offshore Block 58.

Evaluation continues of openhole well logs, cores and reservoir fluids.

CEO and president John J. Christmann said, “This result confirms our geologic model for the Campanian in the area and helps to de-risk other prospects in the southern portion of both blocks 53 and 58.”

Recently APA gained regulatory approval for an amendment to the Block 53 production sharing contract, with options to extend the exploration period by up to four years.

APA has a 45% operated interest in Block 53, with Petronas holding 30% and CEPSA 25%.

The Noble Gerry de Souza drillship will shortly mobilize to Block 58 to drill the Awari exploration prospect for APA and operator TotalEnergies, 27 km north of their Maka Central discovery.

In the same block, the Dikkop exploration well has been plugged and abandoned after encountering water-bearing sandstones in the targeted interval.

The Maersk Valiant drillship will relocate to drill a second appraisal well at Sapakara South, where the partners conducted a successful flow test late last year.

From Upstream today.

If this is correct, Exxon will be drilling both Kaieteur and Canje blocks in Q4 of this year. I though Kaieteur was going to be delayed until Q3 2023?

US supermajor ExxonMobil plans to resume exploration drilling in the Canje and Kaieteur blocks offshore Guyana later this year with the aim of striking hydrocarbons outside the prolific Stabroek tract.

ExxonMobil has previously submitted plans to drill 12 wells each at Canje and Kaieteur to gather data on reservoir characteristics, hydrocarbons presence, pressure and temperature.

Guyana’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said drilling in both blocks is expected to commence in the fourth quarter, with operations concluding in early 2025 at Canje and in early 2027 at Kaieteur.

ExxonMobil to develop nearly 1 billion barrels of oil with Yellowtail

ExxonMobil did not name the prospects that may potentially be drilled, only indicating their locations on maps submitted to the EPA.

The company drilled the Tanager-1 well in Kaieteur, as well as the Bulletwood-1, Sapote-1 and Jabillo-1 probes in Canje, where it made a mix of dusters and sub-commercial finds in the past.

Despite the unsuccess at the two permits, ExxonMobil has more than enough reason to celebrate about its exploration endeavours in the country.

Article continues below the advert

ExxonMobil has so far discovered more than 10 billion barrels of oil equivalent in recoverable resources at the Stabroek block, with exploration drilling still under way.

Two floating production, storage and offloading vessels — Liza Destiny and Liza Unity — are currently in operation in the country at the giant Liza field.

A third unit, the Prosperity FPSO, is earmarked to produce first oil from the Payara field in 2024, to be followed by the One Guyana FPSO, which is set to be deployed in the Yellowtail field in 2025.

ExxonMobil estimates it will require as many as 10 FPSOs to fully developed discovered volumes at Stabroek.

Westmount hv also 1,500,000 stocks of eco before the jhi deal so they hv 10,000,000 eco shares it's worth 4 million pounds , also hv 1 million cash , and catalaya 5% stocks it's worth also 3 million dollars .
So if gazania drill will be good
Eco will be 130 price and westmount hv 12 million pound in eco it's 250% upside from 5 price
