Anyone know what's happening here? Over a week since that Telegraph article, no indication of an auction/any further bids/any more news that I've seen.

Surely it shouldn't take the takeover panel this long to decide whether there's going to be an auction.

Edit - phoned the co, they say it's with the t/o panel & have absolutely no idea when they might decide something.

Illinois Tool Works Inc. CEO David Speer will have to dig deeper into his pockets if he wants to pull off his company's biggest acquisition in almost a decade.

Analysts expect ITW to top the latest bid for British commercial kitchen equipment maker Enodis PLC, which last month agreed to a $2.1-billion buyout offer from Wisconsin-based Manitowoc Co. Manitowoc's offer, the latest salvo in a bidding war that began in April, topped a $2-billion deal ITW had struck with Enodis just weeks earlier. Unbelieveable you wait several months for a bidder and two come along at once.

I feel like a bit of a chicken really because I sold out on the basis that previous bids had not been successful and I was happy to take the profit I had gained.

I guess fortune favours the brave...and I was not brave.

"Both companies will have been aware of the antitrust issue this time round," said Arbuthnot Securities analyst Michael Blogg. "If there is a problem it will be reflected in the price."

He added that companies normally circumvent antitrust issues by selling the particular division in question.
