My "investment" was made on the back of the mass pumping exercise carried out by Michael Walters. Not one of the better tipsters.
I was younger and more naive then, and won't make that error again!!

Thanks for posting the link, Legend01.

I was on a long drive yesterday with a friend who had also bought MMG. After not thinking about this company for all of these years it was a good chat reliving what had happened ... with the share price And today the link, crazy how it works.

I lost a fair ammount also failedQS, but no where near that sum.

Ive been told by the Revenue that loss on MMG arose in 2009/2010 tax year.
This surprises me as although they went into admin in Dec 09 I understood the revenue await confirmation from the administrators that shares are negligable value which cant have been before the 10/11 tax year (ie this year!)
Anyone else been talking to revenue about this.

i think you can only offset the MMG loss against income if you purchased as a new issue - mine were all bought in the secondary market

An interesting point raised on Meldex board re. possibility of offsetting a loss against income:

then link to this 'Deducting losses from your income', towards bottom of page.

Anyone have any thoughts as to the possibility of doing this with MMG?

TIA

Were the Bests the landlords too?! Wouldn't surprise me. Worked for a co that went into liquidation and the owners owned the site and leased it to the co - then filed a huge rent bill as creditors!!!!!

Even if they're not, not a big fan of administrators - don't seem able to sell water to a thirsty man. Any cash realised is always swallowed up in admin fees, and the winding up only ever lasts as long as there's money in the pot.

This administrator can 'out Best, the Bests' with the lenght of time it takes to achieve nothing and keep no-one informed of their progress or lack of. Maybe they are in conversation with the 10 biggest administrators and they will keep us informed !.

Emailed administrators again - no reply. Did anyone get a response?

Amazing - 2 seconds later got this:

John,

The Company has now entered liquidation and the administrators are in the process of settling final dividends.

As outlined in the final administration report, filed with companies house, there was limited value recovered from the assets of the business and following a number of significant claims, specifically the claim by the landlord there is very unlikely to be any surplus of funds for the ordinary shareholders.

I anticipate that the final stages of the administration will take in the region of 6-8 weeks, at which point we will be able to confirm to ordinary shareholders and to HMRC that the shares hold no value and that shareholders can claim any tax losses as appropriate.

Kind regards

Alex

Cheers. I use a hotmail account, don't know if that would make a difference? Mine are also in a brokers account.

Would appreciate a quick summary if you've had news?

JF, Not sure why you are not getting a response to those email addresses, all shareholders are being responded to. There is some risk that you are being filtered into junkmail, subject to your email domain.
