17/4/2024 11:31 | Looking good here and sector wide too today / in general of late. A break and hold of 5500 would be good in the short term and I then think a further push towards 6,000 is very possible later this year. Good luck all 👍🏻 | tuftymatt

17/4/2024 00:36 | Just read all the production report and I'm very impressed especially with Oyu Tolgoi copper mine with 500,000 tons ramp up progressing nicely with shafts 3 & 4 almost complete and commissioning in the next few months. The CEO is starting to come through now IMO and RIO is going in a good direction. Happy days!! | turvart

11/4/2024 21:55 | In summary , jump in LME index start of the year ouperforming stocks, zinc , nickel and copper prices in particular due to China recovery , coupled with a constraint in new mines opening. Whilst commodity prices are showing immediate increases, Barclays advocates being overweight in European miners. Nothing really that can't be logically deduced through news in the public domain. | rogerrail
11/4/2024 19:31 | Behind a paywall. What’s it say? | trikytree
11/4/2024 18:42 | Probably not a good idea to be underweight in miners :hTTps://www.ft.com/ | rogerrail
10/4/2024 18:20 | Yeah today was a bit odd with the trading, I sold my last RIO holding at 5322 and then bought them back at 5202 a few hours later lol, can't complain!! I bought some SVT today also @ 2347 | turvart
10/4/2024 14:55 | Yeah it was 0.1% above expectations which has pushed rate cuts out stateside from June to September. I think it's opened up a buying opportunity though which will become realised if not this week but next. Good luck all 👍🏻 | tuftymatt
10/4/2024 14:26 | US inflation data came out at 1:30pm. I'm guessing it was bad so interest rates will stay higher for longer... | cassini
10/4/2024 14:22 | Why have miners suddenly gone into reverse today after a good start? | eggbaconandbubble

09/4/2024 19:12 | I've sold some yesterday @ 5130 & today @ 5270, I've still got a small holding going up but the RSI 14 is creeping up and we have " Sell in MAY and go away " coming up soon of which has caught me out the the last 2 years and left me holding the baby. I'm still in RIO and will buy below 5100 but waiting to see what happens this May as I want to keep some powder dry. | turvart
09/4/2024 08:50 | Thank you Cassini. | eggbaconandbubble
08/4/2024 19:30 | commodities are on the up across the board (crb index), not unconnected perhaps with the rise in government debt/money printing and consequent inflation in the USA and the West in general. How will they pay off the debt, or rather, manage the interest payments as they'll never pay off the principal? They won't do it via increased taxation, the pips would squeak. They can cut interest rates to make the interest payments more manageable, but this would reignite inflation. Or they can brazenly inflate it away and just try and gaslight the population (i.e. fiddle the figures). Starting a big war would help in this circumstance. Hence commodities doing well as they are 'real'. | cassini
08/4/2024 18:34 | @egg Taking a medium-term view, the sector isn't particularly bullish, though. Share prices are just bouncing around a bit ... currently upwards. Volatility is the name of the game. I remain very bullish about the sector in the long-term. The world needs minerals for energy transition. Coal still has a way to run and uranium is going into a global supply-demand deficit. I don't try to time the market. I just buy a little more whenever I can. But others with better trading skills are doubtless buying and selling for short-term gain, whatever they may believe about long-term prospects. It will be a bumpy ride. | saltraider
08/4/2024 17:05 | "I know nothing!" Please can someone simply explain the recent bullishness of the mining sector. Thanks | eggbaconandbubble |
