I sold my stake post buyout announcement but it looks like you can choose to roll your equity in the new deal as a minority. I have to admit, that looks pretty tempting.

Row over ‘egregiousR17; Seraphine bid
Sam Chambers
Sunday January 22 2023, 12.01am, The Sunday Times

A top-ten shareholder in the troubled maternity wear chain Seraphine has lambasted the private equity firm that floated it for trying to buy it off the stock market on the cheap.

Mayfair Equity Partners sold shares worth nearly £11 million when it floated the company at 295p a share 18 months ago.

On Friday, Seraphine’s board recommended an offer by Mayfair to buy it back for 30p a share. One major shareholder, speaking on condition of anonymity, said this was “egregiousR21;.

Mayfair, which said it would provide up to £5 million of fresh capital if its takeover succeeds, argues that its offer marked a 206 per cent premium to the previous day’s closing share price.

Mayfair, which is also an investor in Fortnite developer

did Maufair float this at 260p/share not so long ago ?

they now hold about 42%

if Mayfair sold lots of shares at 250p to now buy them back at 30p, well, that looks like a good deal, for them !

anyone here pay 250p/share in the IPO ?
what do you think about the offer of 30p/share ?!

Morning all.
Very happy. I don't know if anyone else listens to Paul Scott's podcasts.
Quality small caps.
But he brought this one to my attention as he mentioned he thought it would multi bag from here, and it just did.

Have you seriously not read the rns? Bid at 30p

I took an interest here after it was tipped in SCSW - fortunately never bought in as it was about 210p at the time. Since then I've only see bad news and tbh I thought it was going to zero or there would be a low ball offer to take it private. I'm surprised at the high offer - given that they already hold such a large amount I thought there would be little need for such a premium. But well done to any holders.

We’re all assuming that’s a done deal but you never know - they might attract a bidding war. I think if you’ve bought this at 10-20p, you take your profits. But maybe, just maybe, they’ll get a higher offer. Every 10p is merely £5m so there’s a tonne of upside which is why I liked it in the first place albeit I never underwrote a takeout.

C’mon. They bought this thing for £50m in 2019 and then IPO’d it at £150m in 2021. £15m is pocket change. It’s a bargain vs its potential. They’ll make a killing.

I am amazed that they are offering such a huge premium but maybe talks started in November when it was twice the price.

Maternitywear chain Seraphine to be taken private at fraction of IPO price

Mayfair Equity Partners is to pay 30p-a-share for the Seraphine stock it does not already own - little more than 10% of the price at which it listed 18 months ago, Sky News learns.
