Reasons to feel optimistic about a continued rise:1. New tax year and HSBC being a great choice for ISA investments, especially with the excellent yield.2. Dividend payout on the 25th April and the likelihood of these proceeds being reinvested (compound investing).3. Q1 results on the 30th April. HSBC AGREES TO SELL ITS BUSINESS IN ARGENTINA TO GRUPO FINANCIERO GALICIA


· Consideration of US$550m, subject to certain price adjustments

· US$1.0bn pre-tax loss on disposal recognised in the first quarter of 2024

· Insignificant impact on the Group's CET1 ratio by closing

· At closing, which is expected in the next 12 months, c. US$4.9bn of historical cumulative foreign currency translation reserve losses will be recognised in the income statement - these have already been recognised in capital and will have no impact on CET1 or tangible net asset value

· The transaction will be treated as a material notable item and excluded from the dividend payout calculation

With a special divi alongside a quarterly this is a hold/buy for most. I think £6.40 breach is very likely and a push up to £6.75-£7 imminent. GLA

The planned sale of our banking operations in Canada received final approval from the Canadian government at the end of last year. Subject to completion of the transaction, which is expected in the first quarter of 2024, the Board will consider a special dividend of $0.21 per share, to be paid in the first half of 2024, as a priority use of the proceeds.
