I’m not saying contracts won’t need funding, but its unlikely to be one big contract, so the customers are not going to demand funding is in place before signing contracts.

However any contract(s) signed need to be rns’d if they are material, individually or as a group, whether or not funding is in place.

In the course of normal business, customers don’t ask any business whether they have sufficient funding to honour the contract before signing and they also will not know the other customers’ contracts.

Perhaps if one contract was going to double the entire revenue of the business, then questions might be asked by the customer. But its not defence or construction contracts running over 10 years with a risk of non-delivery after 5 years because of funding issues.

It would obviously be better for shareholders if contracts were announced first and equity funding arranged at higher prices.

Or as per normal business processes you get some contracts signed and then arrange debt.

Yump- wrong
Any large rollout of gear shop will have to be funded.Management would have known 6-8 weeks ago whether they needed these funds, the colleges would have demanded that commitment prior to signing any contracts.Setting up a shop is not simple , it needs to be built, fitted out and staff need to be hired - 15 new shops = a lot of staff and a lot of merchandise and a lot of expense.

By the way UGS ( University Gear Shop) just posted this

Hopefully the order will be gear shop news followed by fund raise, rather than vice-versa. The fund raise can be when they like, but material news must be announced straightaway.

My guess is they are doing a fund raise & want to get that out of the way before communicating positive Gear Shop news (doing the instis a favour of getting them in cheaper). Or waiting to confirm an enlarged banking facility to drive Gear Shop roll out.

The delay doesnt bother me so much. Just as long as its an update worth waiting for.

The company said this ... nearly 5 months ago: We are committed to delivering growth and shareholder value and will continue to keep the market informed of our progress.

As an investor ( owner of a company) I feel I am entitled to timely updates, I appreciate news-flow will be few and far between but the half year for which they are reporting will be 4 weeks over before the update comes, that’s incredibly frustrating, even if I more or less know the reasons for the delay 😉

Why are you concerned about a delay in news?

It’s frustrating and tedious,it will come midweek…sometime, now likely next week,I would be very concerned if the trading statement is delayed further than the 25th.

Zzzz

So that means 99% of AIM stocks in the current investment climate.

The big mistake is thinking a business looks great because its 50p and rubbish because it drops to 30p.

There are frequently massive disconnects between share prices and businesses in both directions.

If you’re just a chancer then you’ll lose.

If you weigh up the pros and cons and don’t buy into spikes you’ll have a chance.

Bitcoin was dead a year ago because its price had plummetted.

TATE was a rubbish business for lots of months until the last few days.

It's frustrating.I can only think they are waiting on gear shop contract news, and then possible funding requirements.

The lack of newsflow is not a great way to support the share price and the market is reacting. I hope the BOD has a valid reason for the lack of an update.

It’s now becoming increasingly tiresome
Last year the trading update with news of contract wins came on the 28th of March.
Altitude are now 11 days past the end of the FY.
They promised to keep investors informed when the interim results were announced at the end of November- diddly squat since.

I have a large holding here and believe that the company has a bright future if they continue to deliver on promises especially expanding gear shop franchising, however they have to do some more PR. It’s a thinly traded stock!

Let’s hope we get something next week- I agree with Northwards re a potential bank loan facility or even a placing, neither worries me at all provided it’s to finance the gear shop expansion

Indeed. Suspect a couple of potential factors are influencing timing of an update. They want to give as full an update as possible on Gear Shops. Given the contract season is March to June, that's understandable. They might be working on a bank loan facility. Or perhaps an equity raise to drive expansion. Time will tell.
