All over bar the shouting, end of listing in Mid Jan.

Sumo and Tencent Bidco are pleased to announce that, on 13 December 2021 (Eastern Standard Time) , CFIUS confirmed that it has concluded all action with respect to the Acquisition subject to the implementation of certain arrangements designed to mitigate the risks to the national security of the United States that CFIUS has determined arise as a result of the Acquisition.

Yes annoying, I would have expected it to be stable at 500p

Interesting to see it trading at a big discount to the bid price. Presumably market is still thinking some external factor could still scupper things?

Talk of delays due to competition authorities jogged my memory of one that I held and I have just looked it up. It was Aegis (AGS) that received a cash offer from Dentsu Inc announced on July 10th 2012. The scheme was declared effective on 26th March 2013 with the money payable by April 9th - one day short of 9 months. The main cause? - months after all the others the final clearance was from "the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China ("MOFCOM") pursuant to the Anti-Monopoly Law of the People's Republic of China (the "Anti-Monopoly Law")".

No idea but that's recent bias. Market is never wrong - I am holding but you would need to hold a gun to my head to be buying here

Have any of their previous acquisitions been delayed?

I think the main problem for this going through could be delays or conditions from competition authorities. You have to remember that the ultimate bidder is Tencent and in their most recent annual report they say:

"We strengthened our global leadership in mobile and PC games via self-developed franchises and IP collaboration with partners and investee companies. Our leadership spans multiple genres, including MOBA, shooter and MMORPG, as well as multiple platforms, including mobile and PC".

I'm sitting on another bid situation atm (ULE) which is at a bigger discount still - presumably as the risk of the buy out going through may face challenges because of the defence work they do.

Me neither but the market clearly feels it isn't 100% in the bag hence the current discount

I can’t see anybody voting against this unless they have a strong desire to lose money

What's not to like is that the deal isn't 100% done so you run the risk of losing a lot more than you stand to gain if it were to unravel and no other bid comes in. I'm holding atm as I'm sitting on a tidy profit so have a cushion if it goes pear shaped. But it's not free money buying now and waiting for the completion of the deal

If you buy 1000 shares at £4.85 plus £10 dealing cost....£4860 .Wait a few months and receive £5,130.What's not to like about that?. £270 profit .Why stick your money in the bank if you can get this return.

The next stage is the publication of the formal offer document - this must be done within 28 days. That usually contains a timetable giving the dates of expected events.

Hi, sorry I’m new to this and perhaps it’s been already communicated but would anyone know when the proposal would have to be voted for/against? Many thanks

full agree Dav0s, the markets are all over the place but there is only a small downside to a larger potential possible upside for me, it is worth holding tight as this moves towards the finalisation date... all other possible suiters will be scrambling to value SUMO to ensure that this transaction will not hurt them more than any cost associated with a bid themselves

I trade reward to risk so my take is pre vote very unlikely to fall much if anything from here, and if another bid comes along (and I have no idea if that will happen) then could easily go up 10,20,30% or more so great reward to risk - rather more than just the potential for a little bit

I'm holding until the vote as downside pretty limited short term. Just had the same with VEC where all and sundry turned up to say that was it giving all sorts of analysis...only for it to attract a higher bid the day before the vote lol

I've sold. Made about 90 percent profit on my holding albeit not a massive stake. Just glad to get into a bit of cash the way the markets are moving elsewhere- tempted to use some of the profits to top up on Frontier Developments

Cant see a counter bid here. Fits well for Tencent. Not so much for anyone else.

Well it was a sell for me this morning.

I’m keeping the money in the bank to hopefully capitalise on some summer and early autumn weakness in the general markets.

Good luck for anyone that is still holding for a counter bid
