Treat it as a loss and offset against profits for CGT purposes.

IMHO.

The only derampers turned to be company directors. Perhaps they have secured positions in the company which took over our assets.

Hello! Has anybody got an update as to whether the IR have confirmed we can take HAWK as a loss against capital gains? As we are approaching end of Tax Year I'd really like to know if anyone can help on this?! Thank you...

Yes, of course, but a tax loss from when?
Or, for when in the future..?

I have asked my accountant to try to get the loss agreed with IR but I haven’t yet had my tax return confirmed by the IR. I am sure my accountant wouldn’t have even tried if he thought it was going to be rejected.

You can't have an unlisted share in an ISA, that's why they would remove it.
The AIM listing was cancelled two and a half years ago.

Fwit...
HL moved my nighthawk shares from my ISA into my trading account, where they remain.
HL information suggested you can't have a negating or nil value in an ISA!!!

Quite often the Revenue need a nudge to put Companies on their nil value list.

By coincidence I viewed this page (today) for the first time in ages and see that there have been recent posts from 3 users. I have 2000 shares in Nighthawk which I bought years ago and they have been sitting on my First Direct trading account showing a loss. I contacted First Direct to ask if they could be removed, however they replied stating that HMRC had to declare them of nil and no further value before they would remove them.

I looked at the Negligible Value Agreement List on the HMRC website, but they are not listed. I was going to contact HMRC for further information, but thought I would post here first. I see that Sharesure4 refers to Inland Revenue regarding them as "suspended" and mentions "when I last bothered to look", however I cannot find anything online so I am wondering where to look.

I suppose it does not matter if they remain in my trading account, however that could go on for years and I would prefer to get rid of them! Ironically, if I closed my First Direct trading account, then I assume they would get removed by default and yet First Direct won't remove them now.

Thanks, philmac. I am pretty certain my accountant has already got the IR to allow mine against gains for the tax return just submitted. Just somewhere I got the impression that the directors were being chased for some damages but I could be mistaken on that and, given the length of time since the company’s assets were sold, any cash for PI’s would seem to be a long lost cause.

Yeah, that court supposed to save company from bankruptcy, but didn't and what's worst, allowed for all assets sale at price matching the debt. If they would agree for a few millions more, then we would get something back too.

Sharesure...

The shares still show in my HL account as you suggest as suspended!!!

The shares I had in my ISA, have been moved into my trade account!

As they are still suspended, they can be regarded as a loss by I Rev I assume!!

But I do think all hope us lost!!!

Is there still the remote possibility that any litigation will produce any return at all on this or has that disappeared along with the company? The Inland Revenue still regarded this as suspended (as in TFBUNDY)as opposed to bust when I last bothered to look.
