Special Extract / [ Aside : IMO - Value Far Beyond Cash]

Hunter Cherwek, MD, vice president of clinical services and technologies at Orbis International indicates:

“The Orbis-FundamentalVR Simulator platform now connects to our telementoring and e-learning platform Cybersight,” he said. “This technology has been the missing piece for Orbis that we are so proud to now share with the world.”

The technology, Cherwek added, can mean that by powering up a laptop anywhere, you can transform any room into a simulation center, a telemedicine center, and a digital library.

“That’s really, really exciting,” he explained. “Something I’ve been waiting my whole career for.”

Orbis, FundamentalVR team up to target training
April 23, 2024
David Hutton

Digital Edition
Ophthalmology Times: April 2024

In an effort to develop training technology for ophthalmologists, Orbis International and FundamentalVR have teamed up to develop the Orbis-FundamentalVR Simulator, a virtual reality (VR) training platform for manual small-incision cataract surgery that uses haptic feedback; cloud assessment data; and low-cost, off-the-shelf hardware.

This is the first technology of its kind designed for use in low- and middle-income countries.

Hunter Cherwek, MD, vice president of clinical services and technologies at Orbis International, and Ashlie Leal, director of ophthalmology at FundamentalVR, discussed the technology with Ophthalmology Times.

Extract 1:

Cherwek pointed out that HapticVR can transform training and education in ophthalmology.

“I think it serves our mission very well and allows us to democratize education and simulation technology,” he explained. “We’ve already deployed units in Bangladesh, Mongolia, India, China, and Ethiopia. I’m super excited that at this year’s ASCRS [American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery] annual meeting, we’re launching the new version, which Ashlie and her team have helped us develop, and pushing that to the countries where we serve.”

Extract 2:

“What we found at Orbis International is that as quality drives demand, and when you have patients going back into the communities with quality outcomes and confidence in their surgery and their surgical teams, there are more patients coming for surgery,” he explained. “That creates a virtuous cycle of growth for the surgeon as well as the hospital. So for us, we see this technology as a change agent.”

Cherwek added that the partners are now distributing the technology to countries that previously did not have access to cataract surgery simulation training."

NAVs are soon to become old hat IMO
Roll on May 14 and the Virtual summit at DA.
Then a few automotive use cases...will show us a lot more methinks. (Microsoft/Argus/CyberArk/DA). I don't think our partners are in it for projects, globally, worth less than £50m...

Even the best bit of selling £££`s will be swallowed up by the portfolio companies`
" internal costs" and legal costs, it`s a no win situation for the LTH mugs ,no matter what happens.

Not one cent has been disclosed about how the companies are doing financially, great job for a nice well paid job though.

Well, I'm using the values and percentages (as far as I can work out)from previous RNS. It's all in a spread sheet so I can see what the NAV would be with different exit scenarios.

I agree Ricardox but the question is what is the 2024 NAV, they are telling everyone revenues are growing in all the investees the NAV will need to be revised up.

Somewhere between back of a vape packet and looking at last funding rounds. I've arrived at the below values for Tern's investees and subsequent holdings. Assuming the share price = NAV. I can use it to guestimate share price on an exit of an investee(s).

FVR 38,000,000. Tern's 12 percent 4,500,000
DA 22,000,000. Tern's 26 percent 5,700,000
Wyld 5,000,000. Tern's 25 percent 1,250,000
Talking Meds 7,500,000. Tern's 24 percent 1,780,000

Adds up to mcap of 13.3million
461,763,630 shares in issue = 2.9p

More about the offering from FundamentalVR and Orbis
The training tool enables independent learning through automated performance monitoring and feedback. Users can hone skills in a realistic simulation within a safe environment before going to the operating room.

With affordable gaming hardware, the offering is more financially accessible to resource-restricted partners, too. It also focuses on manual, small-incision cataract surgery. According to FundamentalVR, this is the most common technique performed in low-resource countries. This allows professionals to train in the procedure most likely needed in their community.

The companies already offer their tool at partner hospitals in Bangladesh, China, Mongolia, Ethiopia, and India.

“Our partnership with Orbis International not only underscores our commitment to advancing the field of ophthalmology but also highlights the immense potential of VR in creating safer, more effective learning environments for healthcare professionals,” said Richard Vincent, co-founder and CEO of FundamentalVR. “Our goal is to elevate patient outcomes and redefine the standard of surgical proficiency on a global scale, advancing the quality of healthcare across borders.”

Looking forward to checking the share price and seeing the decimal point moving to the right. When it happens it will happen literally overnight for the reasons Wardy mentioned earlier. Meta are yet again heavily promoting FVR on prime time TV, Wyld are smashing it across Brazil and DA is quietly picking up hockey stick recurring revenues with 10/eleven owning roughly the same percentage as Tern.
