18/5/2003 23:32 | As a drummer, 1965-73, Mitch Mitchell was my hero/role model and I was a Hendrix devotee from the beginning. Still like to listen to the old vinyl records even now (sad old git that I am). So I, too, was saddened to hear of Noel Redding's death. Not sure that he was that unhappy, ashtongray - always sounded like a regular sort of guy to me in interviews, commendably unfazed by cult status. Although the style has become absorbed into the rock lexicon now, nobody who was there at the time will forget the excitement of the sound created by the Experience which was like no other band. Regards, Ian | jeffian | |
