With the scenario of the ITP agreement expiring in 18 months and/or KRG going it alone with Turkey (assured 100% by legal and international legitimcy) then or in the meantime; perhaps consider this an 18-24 month investment with 10x + upside...

I remember Cove well . I had a few at the time. I also remember a certain broker issuing a sell recommendation about 3 - 4 days before the Shell offer. So nothing would surprise me here.

I've just re-read for the 3rd or 4th time the MNR statement.

It's absolutely brilliant and it was written by a lawyer whose first language is English.

The KRG will have wanted to be completely certain that it was both correct and legally watertight.

On the 23rd of March APIKUR published a statement marking the 1st anniversary of the pipeline shutdown and the following day somebody in the MoO put together a response telling APIKUR to butt out and stop interfering in Iraq's affairs.

They sure as hell won't be doing that this time.

Every word in the MNR statement is true but it wasn't just the professors Crawford and Schwebel who determined that the Kurdish O&G Law has a solid legal basis in the Iraqi constitution, it was forensically examined and ruled on in the English High Court:-

Commercial High Court judge Justice Sir C.J.Butcher:-

"In my judgement, the entry into by the KRG of the PSCs were "sovereign or public acts" or acts jure imperii. They were entered into pursuant to powers which, as I have found, were allocated to the KRG under the Constitution, and under the KROGL (Kurdistan Region Oil and Gas Law), which was enacted to give effect to those powers. I conclude that the entry into of the PSCs was in the exercise of sovereign authority."

It's hard to see where the Federal Government go from here because the KRG has officially called them out and there is no defence.

All their bluff and bluster and bullying would be just laughed out of court.

Interesting times.

Stranger things have happened but they must be worn down by constant visits,committees getting nowhere with no money.Iraq could join Iran- makes sense on so many fronts and the hate lines would be better defined.

Given all these attempts at rapprochement with the US,the Kurds could ask to become part of Turkey.They are both Sunni and could supply it with oil through the pipeline and get water in exchange. They more in common with the Turks than the rest of IRAQ and would become part of NATO eventually applying to join The European Union.With the world adopting right wing leaders, consolidation is the key, on the principle that he that is not for us is against us as exemplified by this BB when someone does not show 100% allegiance.

Almost certainly as part of the sale agreement the 71m owed by GKP to MNR will be set off v 151m o/s.
Then an adjustment / extension of the PSC terms to set off the balance the MNR will still owe.
All of this is noise - company clearly sold TBA in May pre AGM to vote through.

Remember KRG were 6 months behind with payments to IOC's and that couldn't be allowed to continue. Personally I was happy when exports for free stopped.
There wasn't even any communication from KRG as to how they were going to catch up with overdue payments, total shambles in the end.

We've been saying for a while, the KRG and IOCs were far too hasty in shutting off exports. Like frightened mice. They could have appealed the ruling for example. In that part of the world anything goes, literally.
