Jan 30, 2022

Written by
Marco Chiandoni

Italian open access freight operator will receive its new fleet from May onwards

ITALIAN open access operator GTS Rail has awarded Alstom a €30m contract for five Traxx E494 locomotives equipped with last-mile technology. The locomotives will be supplied with a 10-year maintenance service.

The operator has also ordered 100 90’ flat wagons from Czech manufacturer Walbo.

The first locomotives will be delivered in May, with the first wagons being delivered from July onwards.

The investment is being funded by the Marguerite II infrastructure fund, a private equity fund which aims to act as a catalyst for greenfield and brownfield infrastructure investments in renewable energy, transport and digital infrastructure.

CAF to build 23 EMUs for Auckland
Jan 29, 2022

Richard Clinnick

The three-car EMUs will join 72 CAF trains operating in the New Zealand city.
Auckland Transport CAF EMU

AUCKLAND Transport has awarded CAF a €130m contract for 23 new three-car EMUs and their maintenance. The contract includes an option for an additional five trains.

In 2011, CAF was awarded a contract for 57 EMUs, with a maintenance contract for 12 years, and this was followed in 2017 by an order for a further 15 trains. All 72 are currently in service in Auckland and have completed 33 million kilometres in traffic.

The latest order will be similar to the existing fleet and will feature two motor cars and an intermediate trailer.

The stainless-steel trains will have seating for 380 passengers, and each coach will have two passenger access doors per side. The intermediate vehicles will feature low-floor access for wheelchair users and passengers with reduced mobility.

This is a great company and people should really take a look at what they're up to, imho, but make your own decisions.

Bouygues SA (EN.FR) said Thursday that it has completed the sale of its 13% stake in Alstom SA (ALO.FR) for 37 euros ($40.78) a share, or a total amount of EUR1.08 billion.

The French telecommunications company said that following the sale it still remains Alstom's main shareholder with a 14.7% stake.

"Bouygues undertakes with the banks in charge of the placement to a 180-day lock up for its remaining Alstom shares, subject to customary exceptions," Bouygues said.

Alstom SA (ALO.FR) said Friday that it has reached an agreement to supply new metro trains to Hamburger Hochbahn AG as part of a consortium with Bombardier Transportation.

The French train maker said the consortium will supply 32 additional DT5 metro trains to Hochbahn, the operator of Hamburg's subway systems, for a total amount of 186 million euros ($211.4 million).

Alstom's share of the contract amounts to more than EUR100 million, it said.

Under the contract, Alstom will supply the mechanical part, bogies and mechanical braking system, while Bombardier will supply the electrical equipment, driving system, passenger information system and vehicle control system.

The new trains will be assembled at Alstom's site in Salzgitter, Germany, and are slated to be put into service from January 2021 onward.

Video int with Paternoster PRS, an investor in ALO, in which the director refers to ALO suspension and reincarnation as a great investment turnaround. I don't know the ins and outs, I didn't get the mins but probably about half way.

It is opening up today under CRA. The valuation price is 20p or so but no doubt any holders will find out shortly.

IMV management have done an outstanding job. Whether the original ALO shareholders will actually benefit is another question.
