Dividends

We intend to pay an interim dividend of 1.75 pence per ordinary share for the
year to 31st December 2023 on

7 December 2023. This is the same level of dividend as was paid in calendar
2022. A preference dividend of 1.75 pence per preference share will be paid on
the same date.

This dividend payment represents a yield of approximately 10 percent on the
ordinary share price averaged over the first six month period of the year.

WHAT IS THE EX DIVIDEND DATE?

just taking a look at these.
not spent much time but can anyone tell me what the attraction is seem to have very high charges as % of capital on a premium to NAV and invest in funds that invest in other funds like aberdeen diviersified income so tripple charges!
is there anything i am missing (feel like i must be)any hidden value for instance or should i just move on?
appreciate the views of those who are more familiar with the company.

This is a lovely Investment Trust. I've been an investor for many years. Shame it's taken a dice this last year or two but I've kept the faith and will continue to do so.

Dividend

We intend to pay an interim dividend of 2.7 pence per ordinary share on 10
December 2020 to shareholders on the register at 20 November 2020. This
represents an unchanged dividend from last year's interim dividend and a yield
of approximately 9 percent on the ordinary share price averaged over the
period. A preference dividend of 1.75 pence will be paid to preference
shareholders on the same date.

Utter tosh. I've been in this trust for 10 years. Paid £5,000. Stock now worth £2,400. BUT, I've had approx £7,500 in tax free income. I'm a 40% taxpayer so happy days. I believe I will continue to get decent dividends. I couldn't care less if I lost the whole share. I've had £7,500 out of it. Beat that!

Does anybody have experience with brokers X-O(by jarvis) or iweb-sharedealing(by halifax)??

As ii have increased theres fees again(from £90 a year to now £120/£240), along with the bugs, its time I finally left them,

Both x-o and iweb have a simple flat trade fee of £5.95 per trade and have no monthly/yearly admin fees or inactivity fees,

The dividend is not sustainable, as flagged in the Chairman's Statement. The dividends have effectively been out of capital for years. High dividend, but significant capital losses.

"NET ASSET VALUE

British & American Investment Trust PLC announces that, as at 31st July 2018,
the value of the group's investments and cash at banks was GBP19.3 million and
the unaudited consolidated net asset value of the company was not less than
37.1 pence per GBP1 ordinary share (prior charges deducted at par) and 55.1 pence
per ordinary share on a fully diluted basis. "

I'd be tempted at 30p.

The spread is ten. 75p to buy but a great divi. Looks tempting.

Certainly a weirdo trust, this one - what I don't get is why anyone would trade on that sort of spread. They do though - MMs taking them to the cleaners. (Eg today are trades at 100p & 75p).

Large number of trades suddenly.

Guesses as to why -prompted by Lucky Mouse, perhaps ?

Yes, this company is priced not to trade. Very expensive versus net assets and dividend yield is totally unsustainable. There will be a devastating loss of capital for anyone buying these shares unless the speculative pharma investments come off in a big way.
