DONETSK, April 18. /TASS/. The Ukrainian armed forces have reportedly used a US-made HIMARS rocket launcher to attack a hospital and a blood transfusion station in the city of Gorlovka, Denis Pushilin, head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), said.

"The Ukrainian armed forces have carried out an attack on downtown Gorlovka. They deliberately targeted a hospital and a blood transfusion station, which have been damaged. Eight civilians have been injured, with a child suffering minor injuries. According to preliminary reports, the enemy used a HIMARS rocket launcher. Reports keep coming in of the consequences of the attack," he wrote on Telegram.

Pushilin also said that an explosive device had detonated in the Kievsky District of Donetsk, injuring a man born in 1964. "All the injured are receiving medical care. In total, nine civilians have sustained injuries. As many as 12 shelling attacks have taken place, which involved 33 munitions. The enemy used HIMARS rocket launchers, 155 mm artillery systems, including cluster weapons, and combat drones. Donetsk, Gorlovka and the Volnovakha area came under fire," the DPR head pointed out.

Nellya Yakunenko, chief physician at Hospital No. 2, told TASS that the surgery building’s windows had been shattered and the nephrology department’s building had been damaged.

Russian forces improved their frontline positions and repelled a Ukrainian army counterattack in the Donetsk area where the enemy lost roughly 590 troops over the past day, the ministry reported.


MOSCOW, April 18. /TASS/. Russian forces destroyed a Ukrainian command post and two S-300 surface-to-air missile launchers over the past day in the special military operation in Ukraine, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Thursday.

"During the last 24-hour period, operational/tactical aircraft, missile troops and artillery of the Russian groups of forces destroyed a command post of Ukraine’s Operational Command North, two launchers with a target illumination and guidance radar of an S-300 surface-to-air missile system, an ammunition depot of Ukraine’s Battlegroup Donetsk, armament and fuel depots of the 101st territorial defense brigade," the ministry said in a statement.

Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces inflicted casualties on Ukrainian manpower and military hardware in 126 areas, it specified.

The Ukrainian army lost roughly 30 personnel, a tank, two pickup trucks, a 152mm Msta-B howitzer and two 152mm D-20 howitzers in the Kupyansk direction over the past 24 hours, it specified.

Near the settlement of Krasnogorovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic, they repelled a counterattack by an assault group of the Ukrainian army’s 46th airmobile brigade," the ministry said.

The Ukrainian army lost roughly 590 personnel, a tank and seven motor vehicles in the Donetsk direction over the past 24 hours, it specified.

In counterbattery fire, Russian troops destroyed a 152mm Akatsiya self-propelled artillery gun, a US-made 105mm M119 artillery gun, two Nota electronic warfare stations and a field ammunition depot of the Ukrainian army, the ministry reported.

"In the Avdeyevka direction, Battlegroup Center units improved their tactical position in active operations and inflicted casualties on formations of the Ukrainian army’s 68th jaeger, 24th and 47th mechanized brigades near the settlements of Artyomovo, Semyonovka, Netailovo and Orlovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic. They repulsed seven counterattacks by units of the Ukrainian army’s 24th and 115th mechanized and 71st jaeger brigades and 78th separate air assault regiment near the settlements of Novokalinovo, Novgorodskoye, Vodyanoye, Pervomaiskoye, Berdychi and Novobakhmutovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic," the ministry said.

The Ukrainian army lost roughly 130 personnel, an armored combat vehicle, a US-made 155mm M777 howitzer and a 152mm D-20 howitzer in the Avdeyevka direction over the past 24 hours, it specified.

"In the south Donetsk direction, Battlegroup East units gained more advantageous positions and inflicted casualties on formations of the Ukrainian army’s 58th motorized infantry, 72nd mechanized, 102nd and 128th territorial defense brigades near the settlements of Vodyanoye, Ugledar, Urozhainoye and Staromayorskoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic and Malinovka in the Zaporozhye Region," the ministry said.

Kiev loses 140 troops in south Donetsk area over past day
The Ukrainian army lost roughly 140 troops and a British artillery gun in battles with Russian forces in the south Donetsk area over the past day, the ministry reported.

"The enemy’s losses [in the south Donetsk direction] amounted to 140 personnel, 4 motor vehicles, a British-made 155mm AS-90 Braveheart self-propelled artillery system and 3 field ammunition depots," the ministry said.

Russian forces strike three Ukrainian army brigades in Kherson area over day
Russian forces inflicted casualties on three Ukrainian army brigades in the Kherson area where the enemy lost roughly 50 troops over the past day, the ministry reported.

"In the Kherson direction, Dnepr Battlegroup units inflicted damage by combined firepower on the personnel and equipment of the Ukrainian army’s 65th mechanized, 36th marine infantry and 126th territorial defense brigades near the settlements of Rabotino in the Zaporozhye Region, Zmeyevka, Nikolskoye and Ivanovka in the Kherson Region. Near the settlement of Verbovoye in the Zaporozhye Region, they repulsed a counterattack by an assault group of the 15th rapid reaction brigade," the ministry said.

The Ukrainian army’s losses in the Kherson direction over the past 24 hours amounted to 50 personnel, two motor vehicles and two 122mm D-30 howitzers, it specified.

Russian air defenses destroy 251 Ukrainian UAVs over past day
Russian air defense forces shot down 251 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), two Tochka-U ballistic missiles and 33 rockets of the Polish-made Vampire multiple launch rocket system over the past day, the ministry reported.

"During the last 24-hour period, air defense capabilities shot down 251 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles, two Tochka-U tactical missiles and 33 Vampire rockets," the ministry said.

In all, the Russian Armed Forces have destroyed 583 Ukrainian warplanes, 270 helicopters, 21,734 unmanned aerial vehicles, 504 surface-to-air missile systems, 15,801 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,267 multiple rocket launchers, 8,945 field artillery guns and mortars and 21,111 special military motor vehicles since the start of the special military operation, it specified.

Barclays is introducing new cash deposit limit within weeks sparking fears for bank branch network


Speaking on the deposit limit, Martin Quinn, campaign director at Payment Choice Alliance said: “By imposing annual £20k limits on cash deposits do Barclay’s really think that their customer base is all up to illegal activity?

“It might sound like a lot, but imagine if you sold a car, were paid in cash, nothing illegal taking place, but according to the bank, you must be laundering cash.

“The real reason I fear is that Barclays want to continue to erode the branch network, close branches and force us all online, because without a branch how can you pay cash into your account, they want to make it as hard as possible for the British public to safely deposit cash”.

Ron Delnevo, chair of the campaign committee at Payment Choice Alliance said: “Yet again, a bank ignoring the needs of individual customers.

The CEO of a North Sea gas company has said his team was “days away” from issuing key contracts when Labour’s promise of a “proper windfall tax” sparked job cuts.

Hartshead Resources (ASX: HHR) CEO Chris Lewis, whose firm is developing the Anning and Sommerville hub in the Southern North Sea, said they’ve made “material and significant” cuts to the project team over the uncertainty.

He said Hartshead was “days, maybe weeks away” from issuing work for construction of the platforms, subsea cables to tie it to the Shell Leman Alpha platform, and duty holder and well management contracts, following a six-month tender process.

“We were that close, we were ready to go,” he told Energy Voice, but Hartshead and partner RockRose Energy decided they could not move forward given the fiscal uncertainty.

“The 8th of February happened, Labour came out and said what they said, we were thrown into a world of significant fiscal uncertainty and we had to step back from that decision and reevaluate.

The Russian military has damaged or destroyed four Soviet-made 9K35 Strela-10 short-range air defense systems of Kiev forces using Lancet loitering munitions.

Video footage showing the strikes against the four systems were posted to social networks on April 15. The systems were all targeted near the settlement of Siversk in the Donetsk direction by the Russian military’s 106th Guards Airborne Division.

The Strela-10 is armed with heat-seeking anti-aircraft missiles with a range of five kilometers and an altitude of 3,5 kilometers. Ukraine inherited more than 75 systems following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. At least six more systems of this type were delivered to Kiev forces by the Czech Republic after the start of the Russian special military operation.

The Lancet was developed by the ZALA Aero Group, a subsidiary of Russia’s defense giant Kalashnikov Concern. The company produces two versions of the loitering munition, the Izdeliye-52 with an endurance of 30 minutes and a one-kilogram warhead and the larger Izdeliye-51 that has an endurance of 40 minutes and is armed with a warhead weighting three kilograms.

The loitering munition flies towards the designated area with a GLONASS-aided inertial navigation system. After arriving in the area, the operator utilizes an onboard electro-optical system via a two-way data-link to detect, track and lock on the target. A laser-ranging system then controls the detonation of the warhead.

The small radar cross-section and minimal infrared signature of the electric-powered loitering munition makes it very difficult to detect and intercept.

Ukrainian attempts to stop Lancet loitering munitions with air defense fire, electronic warfare or countermeasures have been mostly unsuccessful.

According to Lostarmour.info, a website that documents military losses, the Russian military has targeted 64 air defense systems of Kiev forces using Lancet loitering munitions since the start of the special military operation in Ukraine. The vast majority of the targeted systems were damaged or destroyed.
