Another IC article on the results concluding BUY at 1055p FWIW .It thinks the stateside expansion is good, possibly with a move to the NYSE in the pipeline.It also points out that YOU have a lot of data that AI will value. They think recent weakness a buying opportunity. And more so given that it has dropped a pound since that note earlier in the week.

Results showed flat revenue but there is a General Election on the horizon which won't harm the visibility.

agreed, share based payments are a direct cost to shareholders and should not be excluded from declared profit. They are all too readily excluded from the figures by every company to provide a false gloss on the accounts and to cover up the usually too generous Director rewards.
Can only vote against the remuneration report when given the chance to protect shareholders' funds but too many institutional investors are complicit in the practice.

Paul is not alone in criticising the capitalisation of the panel recruitment 'investment costs' and whilst I can see the point - this is fully legitimate under accounting standards, as long as certain tests are met. If you are investing to create an intangible asset that will provide a financial benefit over its lifetime - then recognising the costs alongside the income generated makes sense to me.

One practice that I certainly object to - but is highly prevalent is excluding 'share-based payments' from EBITDA and adjusted eps. This is a salary cost so excluding it makes no sense whatsoever.

Paul Scott identifies some accounting issues but there again he had an adverse view of the accounting treatment 9 years ago when the shares were in the 90-100p range.

From a chartist perspective, this share is now back on the pre-pandemic (now 7 year long) lower trend line, that it only broke 2 weeks ago due to the IR panic, and loss of faith. Onwards and upwards, hopefully...

YouGov plc posted its FY Results for the year ended 31st July 2023 this morning and these reported strong performance amidst a difficult trading environment. Revenue growth was 17% to £258.3m, adjusted operating profit was up by 33% to £48.3m, adjusted profit before tax was up by 63% to £56.4m, while adjusted EPS was up by 71% to 40.5p. The balance sheet remains strong with net cash at period end of £107.2m up from £37.4m a year earlier, £49.8m of which relates to net proceeds from the equity placing completed in July 2023. Valuation is a little unhelpful with forward PE ratio at 15.9x in the bottom quartile for the Media & Publishing sector. The share price also remains in a near 2-year correction and lacks momentum accordingly. Monitor for now...
