Not been following ASY too much since the mega div news but catching up, this story caught my eye:-

Could never understand why they had not previously entered the German market which must be huge, when they already had depots in neighbouring France, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland even Luxembourg.

Will have to wait to see how this depot near to Bonn/Cologne trades before we see what they plan for this market.

Todays RNS re Board changes. Keeping it in the family.

''The Board remains extremely confident in the ongoing strategy and prospects of the Company.''
Almost reads like a trading update. I would expect they must have been very busy.

Not bothered about internal politics either, but did wonder if anyone has any idea what advantages there are for the family in keeping this a publicly quoted company.

I’m not bothered about internal politics about the company. All I know is the divi is fantastic, but buying in , that spread is so big. It will take a long time for me to get my capital back I’m sure.great Christmas Christmas shopping money coming.

The Company has authorization to buy back up to 12.5% of the shares in issue.

Over 90% of shares are held by insiders, ultimately two family trusts own nearly all that. What a hefty dividend they will be receiving!

I wonder how long it will remain a public company now that Jacques Murray has died.

"The Repurchase equates to approximately 0.01 per cent. of the issued Ordinary Shares"

shares in issue 42,054,589
shares repurchased 10,400
shares is issue prior 42,064,989

10,400/42,064,989 = 0.000247

How is 0.0247% approximately 0.01%? Somebody's being lazy.

Well no doubt M. Murray took some heat during his WW2 sorties over Europe.

If I recall he also had a home near Hollywood in his latter days which no doubt was plenty hot in the summer time.

But perhaps the heat in Erope right now would have even been a bit much for him. Should be bumper-good for air-con sales, repairs and hire I would guess?

I went to the 2016 agm and the late Mr Murray was not there. Bit of a shame, but a multimillionaire in his 90s probably had understandable other priorities.

Very interesting, thanks for posting. What a man. Been a shareholder for a number of years and now wish I had attended an AGM or two, but the location south of the Thames is so awkward to get to. Any other posters been?

Sad news indeed CWA1. Seems to be a theme of the day for me, one of my other holdings, Diageo announced this morning that their CEO has passed away.

I know that there's no reason why not but he rise from about £5 in April to over £6 has taken me a little bit by surprise. Not complaining mind you!

Anyone sen any plausible reason for the modest strength of late...or is it just a delayed reaction to the results?

Cheers
