Event packages can be downgraded which is what will/is happening, so not massively effecting Event sales.

However, Mike Danson is old school type, so spg will probably go back to the 'old ways' of selling, two steps backwards. And am not sure of his background on running Events.

Funnily enough 2009 is a big year for old fashioned advertising
Companies cannot commit to international event stands when they don't know if the staff will be redundant to send to the show. A nice full page ad takes no employee time, and its even cancellable, it always scores in recessions

That was a painfully slow progressive takeover!

CEO Keith gets a nice golden handshake for his share holding. Won't need to work for a few years!

Be interesting to see where spg goes now.

I'd sell at 12.25 I wouldn't gamble on Progessive going to fruition for a 5% premium over 12.25 at 13p
What they (SPM) had been planning was to hold the stock at 9p and offer a rights issue at at least 7p before letting the price slide back before the new stock reached your account, to 4.75p then buy back without telling the SE.
The real value of this company as it stands is intangible since it has always been a conduit where revenue after expenses goes to the salesmen to feed their drug habits, note how it hovers at breakeven regardless of turnover for about 6 years now.
This is a stock where the company and the mm's are in collaboration so not like NAE where I re4commended waiting for the 460p, tho I took 447 myself to take the kids on hols

Outlook

"Although we are in 'threatening' economic times our strategy of investing in our products and people is delivering and we will continue with this strategy to generate revenue growth and in due course increased profitability. Our orders brought forward are up on the previous year by 21% and our current order intake is up 30% for the first eleven weeks of the year on the same time last year. I am confident we are on track." Stephen Davidson - Chairman - 25 June 2008

With world markets more like 'dislocated' I can't really see any profit being made next year at all! Threatening is an understatement!

I wonder whether the offices (goodge st, edgware rd etc) that spg are still pay rent on, is proving to be a sticky point on any takeover enquires! If they are still paying those commercial rents then that would effect the valuation of the business and therefore putting off potential buyers. And poss new tax implications come april.

Progressive Capital holds 19.02 pct in spg.

Could this be a progressive takeover?

Who knows what, and how do you know in the absence of share price move?

Somebody knows something, a little surprised that the share price didn't move up!

I assume positive news release will be made shortly.

Indeed, the mushroom tea may well have got to his head!

Anyhow, I don't imagine that the new recruitment website news release, is the reason behind recent share price moves. The powers that be, I presume are still holding back the main news still to come.

I need a good gardener with prominent achievements in the business of financial turnarounds.

Unfortunately Nicholson was unable to distinguish between the definition of a mushroom and that of a shareholder; thus raising doubts as to his horticultural competence.

I'm down to my last 50k (shares) of this woofer. I thought macro events of the last few weeks might give rise to 'the big one' and divested myself of pretty well everything UK paper. Oh well! Early as usual.

That spike is interesting....and the gradual incline since. Ummm what's going on? If I didn't know spg better, I'd say news to break and for that amount to spike something we've been waiting for perhaps?

I would have asked my gardener Steve Nicholson, but I had to simply let him go. He said that working with nature had changed him to a more grounded man and that 'the cloud' had spoken to him about his future.

It was clear to me at this point that his 'gardening leave' had gone on for far too long. His head was now in the clouds and we departed.

Then I found this:
Chief Executive Of The Cloud Resigns
News: Steve Nicholson, a man with a long background in private equity, has taken over as chief executive. One of Nicholson's most prominent achievements is a financial turnaround of SPG Media, a London-headquartered media company.

Financial turnaround.....ummmm

With Steve still doing my gardening, spg should now be not so volatile and sailing steady as she goes. Perhaps a little sale in India so spg can focus on their core activities, and perhaps begin to expand again for the eventual company sale.

Maybe worth a punt!

Probably not relevant to the recent re-valuation for which I can find no news. However, interesting all the same.
