Yule Catto rally tempts seller

Strong full-year results from Yule Catto earlier this month were warmly received by the City and numerous upgrades followed. "The most undervalued of the UK chemical companies, in our view," wrote Morgan Stanley, as the share price rallied within sight of a new high.

That was enough for Alexander Catto, the non-executive director, to pocket £227,000 from the sale of 100,000 shares. Still, his remaining stake is currently worth £4.7m and, given the success of the PolymerLatex acquisition and increasing income from emerging markets, is likely to keep growing. Director Neil Johnson clearly thinks so. The Hornby and Umeco chairman has opened his account with the purchase of 50,000 shares at 251p.

Mr Johnson got in at an eight-month high, but a forward PE ratio of just 10 looks too cheap and a further re-rating of Yule Catto looks likely. At 240p, the shares are a buy.

Numis now forecasting 24.7p eps and a 5p divi.

These are still on a single digit PE.

There's plenty of chairman that hold no shares imo, too many in fact and just picking up share options half the time.

Have you seen the volume this rose on? And coming off on no real volume today.

The volume over the past week's rise is the highest weekly volume for a year.

Seems a tidy little purchase to me and a good start from him. A small retrace/pause for breath no bad thing here imo. I just fancy that despite that buy the share price may have a little further to fall before rising again. I will be buying more thats for sure!

that's one way to view it admittedly - but equally you could ask what is a reasonable stake for any director to take ?

Personally, if I see anything above £50k, then that to most people represents a significant sum/vote of confidence

Agree with you guys that prospective Chairman buying is no bad thing but it would be looked on very badly if the Chairman held no shares. Whether 50,000 (£125K) is a significant amount depends on how wealthy the guy is.

Aha..Neil Johnson, who is to succeed Peter Wood as chairman of YULC has made his first purchase of shares in the company.

50,000 @ £2.51 today 19th March 2012, holding 0.02% of the company.

He only joined the company on 1st September 2011 as Senior Non Executive Director
and has agreed to become Chairman.

Now...that shows real signs of confidence, an initial investment of 125 grand !!!

Wonder if he knows something that we don't ????
