campbed: It seems there is only Elmbridge and me who comment on this share. But it is good to see the YNGA share price increase by some 25% in recent weeks to a more appropriate rating of its quality and of the one-off, but imminent, benefit from Rugby World Cup. I'd suggest £13.50 is an appropriate price currently and if it goes above £14 I'll start to top slice and exit for now at £15. It is after all just a pub-hotel company, a saturated market area where there is strong competition, and isn't going to find a cure for any form of cancer or otherwise enjoy any fertile market area.
typo56: I presume the share price will be held back until Guinness Peak have sold their stake.
elmfield: yes, something is up, and it is not just the share price!
lundhousegreen: The gap in the share price between the voters and non-voters is closing rapidly IMO.
lundhousegreen: Re: Brakspear. Wed. Telegraph says....... " Not everyone has toasted the deal, however. Camra, which campaigns for real ale, said it would not vote its investment club's shares, valued at £238,000, in favour of the deal. "We're very disappointed," said Camra's Iain Loe, who said he was worried that Brakspear's reputation for selling good beer would be damaged. Camra has also complained the 915p-a-share offer is a discount of 14pc to Brakspear's share price before the deal was announced, though it stands to make a hefty profit from its shares."
lundhousegreen: Ygor. I was thinking what you had said previously as I watched the share price drop today, but being an optimisic kind of person, thought of Halsteads , who moved to AIM and their price is doing OK. I hope Young's follow JHD's lead and not Pipex's.
ygor705: This may be an AIM market I said in an earlier posting, moving from the main market to AIM did nothing for the Pipex share price. Olympics are not for another seven years LHG................war could have broken out by then!!!!
ygor705: LHG Not so sure about the move to AIM being wholly positive for the share price as there are some institutions that cannot hold AIM stocks. Pipex went into reverse when they did a similar thing about a year ago. At these levels would also be a bit nervous about Youngs unless something happens on the Ram Brewery front......especially if the market frees up a little after the reorganisation of the share capital. Let's hope for some good news and soon..............the market has been pretty poor of late.
lundhousegreen: Looked a bumpy ride about 2000, but currrently very positive. IMO it is the general lack of available shares that is keeping the price high, and Zeppo's (post #25) point of possible news in the pipeline. Also the current shareholders seem very reluctant (me included) to part with their shares.(There's also share buybacks by the company which have helped the share price.) The management team, including family members, keep the company direction focused. Hopeful of more (share price rises)to come. LHG
lundhousegreen: Hia Zeppo. Well, we appear to have a very similar portfolio, and yet another share we both own!! I bought the YNGA shares about 12 months ago, and they are up 50% in that period. I expect that these can continue to rise, as there are few shares available in the market. IMO Young's shares are pretty good, and I won't be selling these either. (Like ESH, JHD, PZC, etc.) A friend of mine tried one of Young's restaurants in Oxford when he was on hols., and gave them a great review. Have you tried the Waggledance honey beer? Quite nice to celebrate the share price rises ! If anyone wants to check out Young's website, it's .....
