17/1/2007 09:18 | Wells & Young's Brewing Company acquires Courage brands from Scottish & Newcastle. | lundhousegreen
15/1/2007 08:20 | Thanks for that, mine in nominee account so no idea what is going on but I left instructions to reject the offer. | elmfield
11/1/2007 12:30 | Off topic. Elmfield (& any others). Still holding Brakspear? It looks from this morning's announcement that JTD investments still only have approx. 65% of the shares of the company, a long way short of the 75% required to take Brakspear off Ofex/Plus, and way short of the 90% to compulsorily purchase the rest of the shares. Only 5% of the public are so far accepting the deal. I am going to hold on to my shares for the present, and see what happens, as more than likely, without an improved offer, Brakspear will continue to be traded on Plus. Could do without the bullying tactics of Brakspear, i.e., now 3 "polite" telephone calls to make sure I have voted/sent in certificates, to which I have given them short shrift, and part of this morning's RNS, which says.... " THE CANCELLATION OF THE QUOTATION OF BRAKSPEAR SHARES ON PLUS WOULD SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE THE LIQUIDITY AND MARKETABILITY OF ANY BRAKSPEAR SHARES NOT ASSENTED TO THE OFFER." That's if they can get to 75%, which looks quite doubtful at the moment. LHG | lundhousegreen
03/1/2007 17:51 | I would expect, as are other breweries, that looking at REIT's are on the agenda IMO. | lundhousegreen
03/1/2007 13:02 | Is REIT A Possible one here, I suspect some of the bigger shareholders would prefer to keep things as an AIM stock? I do. I suppose you would loose some of the tax breaks and gain others? | elmfield
21/12/2006 14:45 | Looks like Brakspear shareholders not happy, so the directors are trying to push the deal through another way. As I read it, only 50% majority now required, not 75%, which they (JTD & the Brakspear directors) already have 65% . Still going to vote against again, even though it now appears a done deal. Very slim chances of a counter-bid, IMO. | lundhousegreen
19/12/2006 16:05 | Lundhousegreen, I hold 4000 bra And to my knowledge I have heard nothing but I will ring my broker to confirm that I will not be voting for the takeover. Thanks for letting me know that you had been rung. | elmfield
15/12/2006 07:13 | Friday Telegraph's market report.... "The pubs stocks continued their ascent as Citigroup became the latest broker to publish a bullish note on the sector. It analysed the potential value that could be released by splitting businesses into property and operating companies." | lundhousegreen
12/12/2006 20:26 | Apologies in advance to YNGA/N holders for being off topic. I have mentioned Brakspear here before, just to let holders know that as well as a 2 page canvassing letter arriving last week, I received a 'phone call on behalf of JTD (who represent Brakspear) today asking if I had voted, and may they ask how I voted. Gave them short shrift, of course, BUT I have never had this sort of "attention" or intrusion during any takeover before, and IMO think it smacks of panic and desperation by the Brakspear board that the bid will be rejected. What do they expect, when the offer is 150p below previous day's market price? If the preferred bid is rejected, hopefully the bidder might come back with a better offer, or if not, there may be another offer from elsewhere? Rant over! | lundhousegreen
06/12/2006 11:40 | LUDERITZ, might be worth looking at non voting, they may have a little catching up to do? | elmfield
06/12/2006 11:26 | Very happy with this share. Up again today. More to come? Very few willing to sell at this stage. A few automatic share trades snaffled by the market makers before hitting 3510p on the offer. | lundhousegreen
06/12/2006 10:39 | So, I for am are more than happy to hold and with the AIM stock status I can see why there is demand for a part of this even though we are at all time highs, still plenty of scope .... | elmfield
05/12/2006 07:56 | solid set from Greene King, | elmfield
03/12/2006 21:16 | Thanks Elmfield, Anyone else with some upper and lower figures on that spread please? | luderitz
02/12/2006 00:28 | It does change, you just have to watch it and pick your time, good luck. | elmfield
01/12/2006 23:25 | I'm doing some research on this lot and just wondered about the spread, looking for someone to give me some answers please? 49p seems to be normal today (4.5%), Is that usual? seems a bit much but usual I suppose on AIM Company's. Thank's for any help. | luderitz
30/11/2006 15:15 | Good quality stock this. Still holding my shares tightly. MAB are talking about a possible REIT conversion, maybe up on the back of them? MAB finance director said " the tax benefits offered by REITs had to be weighed against the disadvantages of splitting the group into two separate companies -- a property company and a pub operator. " | lundhousegreen
30/11/2006 09:17 | Looks like another blue day, mid price is nearer £34 than £33, | elmfield
24/11/2006 14:29 | RE; Brakspear. MM's having a field day, the mid price now BELOW the takeover price. YNGA/N. Spread appears up to 6.5% or currently 150p spread (as is YNGN). The agreed maximum spread will be somewhere in the Articles of Association of the company IMO. | lundhousegreen
23/11/2006 18:52 | I'm doing some research on this lot and just wondered about the spread, looking for someone to give me some answers please? 49p seems to be normal today (4.5%), Is that usual? seems a bit much but usual I suppose on AIM Company's. Thank's for any help. | luderitz
22/11/2006 08:51 | Well they ain't getting my vote either. | elmfield
22/11/2006 08:41 | Re: Brakspear. Wed. Telegraph says....... " Not everyone has toasted the deal, however. Camra, which campaigns for real ale, said it would not vote its investment club's shares, valued at £238,000, in favour of the deal. "We're very disappointed," said Camra's Iain Loe, who said he was worried that Brakspear's reputation for selling good beer would be damaged. Camra has also complained the 915p-a-share offer is a discount of 14pc to Brakspear's share price before the deal was announced, though it stands to make a hefty profit from its shares." | lundhousegreen
21/11/2006 07:44 | Thank you, that will show a small loss for me, pity that one more decent AIM share hits the dust! | elmfield
21/11/2006 07:29 | elmfield. Have you seen the Brakspear takeover? (at a discount to yesterday's closing price??) . Edit. Brakspear down 125p on a takeover. Not impressed. Will vote against the takeover, although I doubt the small shareholders will make much difference. Maybe an outside counterbid may come, but I'm not hopeful. :-(( | lundhousegreen
20/11/2006 11:32 | YNGA, BRA, MAB & McMullen's in this sector. Had HDYS. New all time highs for YNGA/N today. | lundhousegreen |
