The Board of Yorkshire, the specialist dyes and chemicals group, reported very
difficult trading conditions in its interim report dated 3 September 2002
together with an aim of achieving group profitability some time in 2003.

The Board has recently completed its review of the Group's budget for 2003 in
the light of continuing depressed trading conditions throughout the world and
now expects that a return to group profitability will take longer than
previously expected.

Against this background, and in the context of the Group's high level of debt,
the Board has now concluded that it should defer its global growth strategy for
the time being. Instead, a substantial reduction in the Group's level of debt
has become the Board's immediate priority. In accordance with this, the Group
has commenced an active and aggressive strategy of asset realisations.

This change in strategy is likely to have a knock-on effect on the results to be
reported for the year ending 31 December 2002 as a result of, inter alia, a
review of asset carrying values.

Scrabble - the chart for yor of price/volume for the last month shows no sign of this transaction. Could it belong somewhere else? If correct, it would have to be reported to the company.

Nearly 7% of the Company traded a week ago at 6p and only declared today. Is that allowable and what is going on ?

i bought at -68 on the basis that
management were going to liquidate
the bulk of the bizness, then effect
a cash distribution.on the back of this
they went to -80 pence.
then 'management',under stuart wallis[kiss of death]
decided otherwise,and instead opted for
a disastrous acquisition spree, which
has now nearly bankrupted them.
good luck all holders.

On the basis that there is no point playing this game without having the courage of your convictions I bought another 50000 shares later in the day. I now own 0.2% of the Company !!

I have just bought 50000 of these. With a NAV of 90p and recovery prospects they must be cheap. (Unfortunately I also thought they were cheap when I bought at 57p, and I also thought Winchester Entertainment were a bargain at 23p and 33p ).

This company used to be a very well run company when the economy was going well, I invested on it several times, but for the last few years the company is gone from bad to worse.

I am not any longer a shareholder, but I would like to get in, but on reading the accounts I find out that the gearing is very high 71% at the last accounts end June 02, but looking at borrowing of £34.8 Mil. againts market cap of just over £ 5 Mil, one has to think twice before investing any money in YOR.

The good thing would be if the maket recovers strongly or manage to get rid of some assets that do not perform, in so bringing this borrowing down from this astronomical figure of £34.8 mil.

I wish you well for the future, because the share price is really at a very low price, and maybe the asset value can keep it as a bottom price 12.5p

Martin Tower's move to Kelda Water etc (to be effective next March) is surely some kind of compliment to YOR, Kelda being about five times as big. I am still at a loss to understand why this yor is rated so poorly

The past week has again seen some hefty volumes moving, suggesting that some kind of resistance level has been found. And now we have three directors accepting extraordinary ten-year options - At the current 15/16p level! Looks like a preparation for a management buy-out offer - and who can blame them for trying?

Have we really seen what the market thinks? Depends what is meant by 'the market'! Have a look at the last three months' trading - day after day you will see very, very small volumes moving, 20-50,000 a day, during which time the price moves down from 40 to 18p. Then today how many? Over TWO MILLION. Something interesting is going on.
