hard to predict how it will open ninja as still not certain merger will proceed .

News is out. Below is an extract relating to timing

The revised terms of the Merger set out in this announcement are final. The full detail of these revised terms will be set out in the New Scheme Document to be posted and made available to all eligible Xstrata Shareholders during October 2012.

Timing

It is expected that the New Scheme Document, containing further information about the Merger and notices of the New Court Meeting and Further Xstrata General Meeting, together with the Further Forms of Proxy, will be posted and made available to Xstrata Shareholders during October 2012. It is also expected that the New Scheme will then become effective before 31 December 2012, subject to the satisfaction of the Conditions and certain further terms set out in Appendix 1 to this announcement.

It is also expected that, in accordance with the Prospectus Rules, Glencore will publish further documentation containing updated information about the New Glencore Shares during October 2012.

It is further expected that Glencore will formally notify the European Commission of the Merger shortly. The processes in respect of South Africa and China are ongoing. It is anticipated that the requisite approvals will be obtained before 31 December 2012

I agree completely. After last announcement glen dropped and xta rose then dropped significantly (more then sector averages). Technically glen shouldn't fall on the news as it didn't correct itself after last drop and subsequent xta delay etc.

I have a feeling there are a few more curve balls on the road ahead but it will go through.

Hope it's an exciting Monday morning. Probably wont sell as I believe the strength of both companies combined is huge and with Xmas new projects etc.

it is impossible to work out the value to xta investors as it depends upon the glen share price.
if the market likes it, the slightest hint of increased world growth would see them both rise significantly.

it must be odds on that this deal will go through now.
it will still take a few weeks to be voted through, but this combined group is a very interesting long term investment.
i am heavily into glen/xta.

ARJA - See RallyCry post 17291 re GLEN credit rating. I will have to hang on to my stock as it is not worth taking the loss right now. Miners have been propping up the FTSE today with the good news out from China which has offset the bad news from Spain and Greece.

GLEN now dragging XTA down wtttne- dam it and no sign of XTA trading at 3.05 merger terms. I thought I read someting about GLEN's huge debt being classified as junk status and hope it is incorrect !! I still hold stock in XT a but am thinking about getting out to be honest !

What I am finding increasingly annoying is all these deadlines keep getting kicked further, and further down the road. GLEN has the takeover of Viterra now also on the back burner until mid November. You may be right arja re the merger not happening, time will tell!! Whole market is as flat as a fluke due to Spain and Greece....again. Groan:)

not in the bearish market mood at present careful especially for resource stocks ! Why would GLEN share price rise if meerger goes ahead as just as likely to fall but hope you are right !

If the merger goes ahead both will be higher by this time next week.
