Looking very strong at the moment after flirting with 1400 for a few months. I hold for income and have done for 7 years but you can't beat a bit of capital growth as well. If only I could spot another XPP and this time throw the kitchen sink at it.

So I've been taking a quick look back on the thread and I've only just realised to my horror that I haven't spammed it up enough with any charts!

For me I've been invested here for fundamentals (e.g strong historic ROCE etc), BUT the chart has been showing an obvious £16 pivot point for some time and thus the recent breakout from that range is significant.

FWIW (not much) my fair value calculation is some way off still so target is at least the previous record high.

Thank you Thorpematt. Time will tell, but for now after a scan of the Annual Report and relevant RNS I too feel they are doing the right things and doing those things in the right way.

nspal,
It's a fair point. Continuing rises in inventory is a red flag for reasons you know doubt understand. However I'm not concerned when I see a one year on year rise in isolation. I think 2009 had a relatively large comparitive (% of balance sheet) level also. This in some respects was a pre-curser to falling revenues but we have a positive trading statement of late and thus I don't thin we should add 2+2 together on this one and think we have a repeat of 2008.

Also bear in mind XPP has increased its own product mix the last few years and expanded factory capacity into an additional country - both factors in inventory requirements and logistical changes.

Most important to consider for me is the issues suffered at PIC a couple of years ago when one of their supplier (western digital I THINK) had an issue with delivery of hard drives. This really messed with PICs ability to deliver their own product (set-top boxes) and thus revenues were hit heavy. )so was the stock price).

If you view guidance from XPP management you will see in the risks section, that holding important items of stock at high level is a deliberate strategy.

At this point one of my key drivers for holding XPP is that historically management has done a good job.

I hope this helps?

XPP have been on my radar since 2009 and they tick many boxes. However, the 23.5% rise in inventories from £20.4m to £25.2m 2013-2014 doesn't look a very positive sign to me. Have I missed something?

robow, thanks for posting that. I'd agree with that summary.

Not sure if we have a positive chart forming here? Looks like it...

yep saw that today CR looks pretty positive imv.

bought some ZYT too today, an old favourite.

been buying HTY as well

I added XPP again yesterday, while the spread was small, which seems to have been fortuitous. Strong business, i have been buying on the dips for a while now and built a decent holding. Liquidity may become a selling issue but at some point many moons from now...... sell into strength i guess.

also a prime takeover target if you ask me.

Apologies, i didn't read down far enough, it's April 9th (tomorrow) followed by Q1 interim trading statement on April 10th. A bit cheesed off with this slide back down to the 1400 area but i'm here for the divi as much as the capital gain.

Agree Thorpematt.

I hold a chart of stocks and monitor them as a group rather than singularly - you can see the trends more easily. Electronics co's bottomed out and turning up imo - from that chart.

All imo.

CR,
Good to hear that sir.

Yes low copper price will assist to some extent I suspect.

Lowered operating costs have been a focus of late here which will be massively assisted by new factory ramping up production and of course cap-ex spent there can now be funneled elsewhere.

I think that even with flat sales profits will hike significantly but of course a recovery in global economics may well see sales pick up too.

I've been looking at these Thorpematt and look decent value here I suspect. Falling copper price helps most of these co's imo.

XD next week (March 12) so will buy before then if I do.

TTG, VLX, PFL etc might all start sounding more positive going fwd with cheaper copper imo, which will help the sector imo

All imo

Most analysts targeting £18 ish as fair value. My calculation is nearer £17 since I have applied a modest growth profile.

Yield at 4% of course so a nice hold with good yield and modest capital growth IMO.
