Sold some more L100 right at the death...still got a healthy wadge of both FTSE100 trackers...but, IMHO, important to gradually bank profits at strategically important stages even if those shares are reinstated a day or so later, ideally at a lower price. As there is no stamp duty, costs are virtually irrelevant especially when dealing charge is only £4.95. The concern today is that DOW may be heading for a blow-off top tonight so FTSE could open well Down tomorrow. It probably won't which is still OK because value of trackers will increase further.

Its all about holding about the right amount of shares at any one time for the size of one's portfolio and the state of the markets...not an exact science, however.

Closed worst remaining FTSE100 short for (70.3) point loss...average improved to 6864.9. So far banked about (277.3) points of losses but, fortunately, only @ 50p a point. Left with £2 short @ 6864.9.

Sold some more Tracker shares at about 6879 for another smallish profit but still got about 94% of funds that we had going in to today. Overall stock level Down to 66.5%.

For info, our average share price for VUKE is 3037.83p (current bid is 3081p) and for L100 our average is 873.22p (current bid is 889.1p).

Reduced on spread short by cashing original FTSE short (6752.9) for a loss of about (114) points*...average now 6831.1 with another order placed @ 6895.

Note that the 6677 based rally consisted of 2 parts with a hefty zero day Down wave giving back (88.95%) of the initial 2 day, 172 point Up wave. Consequently, will look to cash some more Tracker profits somewhere between 6880 and 6890.

*Edit
Also closed 6783 short for (93) point loss. Average now 6843.1.

Still Adding to FTSE100 short on the spread but losses widening with an average currently of 6818.0.

However, more than compensated for by increase in FTSE100 Tracker funds...decided to bank a few profits so sold a very small amount @ about 6870...stock level Down to 67.9%.

FTSE may well have started its customary pre-xmas rally and last Friday's 6679 could turn out to be a secondary base building on the 6677 of 4 Nov. The rally from 6677 lasted just 4 days but put on 04.79% reaching 6997. Looking like reaching 7020-7050 range maybe even by Monday (assuming America continues to stand firm).

IGG is more internationally diversified and more established so probably more likely to bounce back quicker. CMCX is cheaper higher dividend but a bit more risky.

I'm going to sit on both and just collect the dividends

Comiss, Invisage...thought you had IGG but didn't realise you had CMCX as well. I may get interested in those now...which one do you think is the best Buy?

Incidentally, added to FTSE shorts @ 6783 & 6808 so average is currently 6781.3...I'm prepared to lose a few quid if it means FTSE100 trackers do well!

Got roasted today by holding IGG and CMCX

I plan to continue to hold and take the dividends. I think the FCA Reg will impact new clients, I don't think it will prevent people using spreadbetting although I guess it may make it more difficult to recruit new customers at the same rate they have done historically.

I don't share the pessimism of the markets though, I may add to my holdings once the market settles as I believe it is negative sentiment driving the share price.

Yes, Banks also helped us today with strong gains for BARC, PAG & STAN to say nothing of the consequential gains in the FTSE100 trackers where HSBA would have made a significant contribution.

I haven't been posting as avoiding watching my portfolio too much....I think best to let companies get on with it.My main goal in 2017 is to really cut down on trading costs. I want most of my trading costs to go towards adding to holdings using dividend cash.
