Aquila, a chap on the dark side called The Bumpkin, posted that he'd heard a rumour that Woolwich was the object of bid speculation. Others have posted that they heard the same. I suspect that this is a case of blatant ramping. However, if you hear the same thing here, I'd take it seriously.

Took a nice position with igindex a few hours ago, in the money already, I have also heard a juicy rumour and will wait until it is confirmed before posting more.

Now tell me..... Woolwich prices have bounced around at the 260-270 mark now. Does anybody see this as a good speculative bet and expect the price to bounce next week when the expected banking figures are released??

Did anyone buy these at 2.55 from through Pershing/City Deal last week. They were bought in my name but I know nothing about it! jusy got a contract note on T+10, 1000 shares @2.55?? any takers?.

I agree with the Durham Shorter on this one. It does not look too good at the moment, although for now they have managed to hold above their all time low around 250. A trading strategy could be to buy them now but get ready to sell (and go short) if they slip much below 250. From a buying point of view though I would rather sit on my hands for a bit on this one - if it rallied through 300p this would be a sign that the downtrend from 370 is over and we can start looking for a rally back up to that level. At the moment I think buying it is a bit risky - but well worth watching for the long/short signal over the next couple of weeks.
