05/9/2012 08:52 | > sentant 3 You have a somewhat curious view. To do the paperwork to send out the cheques will take a certain number of man hours whether it is done by 2 people or 20; the former will just take a lot longer. So the cost will be the same if you put 2 people or 20 on it. Hence my argument that it is disappointing that they don't do their job efficiently. I don't dispute this is a good compensation system and we are lucky to have it. However, as far as I am aware the money comes from levies put on transactions and so is not paid by the taxpayer (please correct if this is wrong). I won't bore you with my personal circumstances but suffice to say that I come from humble origins. I was the first person in my extended family to go to university. So all my 'gambling money' is hard earned. And anyway it isn't gambling. I just choose to hold my investments as spread bets rather then actual shares. I am surprised everyone does not do this as it means you do not have to pay capital gains tax! I will probably regret getting into this discussion...... Nobby | nobbygnome
04/9/2012 22:24 | Orient -;) This is a tough business; zero sum game and all that after the near collapse of the whole financial system in 2008, people leave their the livelihood to a spread betting co? lucky to be getting a dig out is my view! and somebody is paying for that? Gamble away by all means and get your money back from the FSA by all means, but expecting sympathy, sensitivity? I think I'll save that for 25% of the under 25s who cant get a job! | setanta3
04/9/2012 20:02 | Can't believe you have said that Setanta...not exactly sensitive considering the distress they have been under recently. The only toss pots here are the BOD of WorldSpreads...hope they get prosecuted eventually!! | 0rient
04/9/2012 19:18 | Cheque received today | mattjos
04/9/2012 19:00 | Being a tax payer I am happy with the amount of resources that is going into this; for the gamblers to get their money back! my taxes will help educate your children, now they are out of private schools its a tuff life | setanta3
04/9/2012 18:41 | Thanks all for your comments. I didn't agree my amount until the end of July so assuming they are doing it in order, I am in trouble if they are only just paying those agreed in April!!! I can't really claim great financial hardship but am struggling to maintain a sensible investment strategy. I will just have to wait whilst the small number of staff slowly process the cheques. Ho hum...... Nobby | nobbygnome
30/8/2012 20:30 | Could be worth stating to Capita that the delay in sending you a cheque is causing you material financial hardship and that borrowing costs are around 17% + so you need the funds now. | sharesure4
30/8/2012 07:58 | The most likely order would be by account number. | miata
29/8/2012 19:10 | I agreed on 10th April with KPMG. Personally i think they may be processing randomly as a friend agreed same time as me and he hasnt received his yet. | thekop
29/8/2012 07:59 | In my case, I was told the attachment (PDF) I sent was corrupt, and the they could not open it. In my view, Capita (company outsourced to) make up any excuse under the sun. | ramnik007
29/8/2012 07:38 | >> thekop Thanks for giving me some hope. Can I ask when you agreed the amount of your claim with KPMG? Assuming they are doing it in order of when you agreed the amount, that may give me some idea of when my cheque might arrive! TIA Nobby | nobbygnome
29/8/2012 07:35 | I rang the FSCS yesterday and got the standard response that you will get your cheque within 6 months with no further clarity than that! The guy let on that it was purely a rsource issue and that they didn't have enough people to handle the several claims situations which are going on at the moment. For me this really is not acceptable. After everything is resolved we have to wait an inordinate amount of time for them to get round to send out a cheque because there are not enough people to do the job. Through no fault of my own I am going through financial hardship which could have and should have been resolved weeks ago. This is so typical of the City; they look after themselves but everyone else can wait..... Nobby | nobbygnome
26/8/2012 16:01 | hi guys just to let you know i also received my cheque yesterday in post. So all those who havent received yet should expect soon. Good luck | thekop
24/8/2012 15:32 | still nada for me ... the Initial contact Team (today) are vague in the extreme but, suggest it will now be weeks rather than months | mattjos
21/8/2012 09:11 | That is good to know Miata. I look forward to my cheque as well! | ramnik007
21/8/2012 09:03 | I received my DECISION LETTER and cheque today - within the six months deadline. | miata
05/8/2012 09:22 | I see that some have now received cheques. | miata
03/8/2012 10:37 | So has anyone on here actually received any money yet? It would be good to hear that the process really is happening as alluded to above. I am waiting expectantly for £50k...... Nobby | nobbygnome
02/8/2012 09:25 | No update on the crooks who ran Worldspreads. I guess they are starting up new companies under their partners names, such is life for these kind of lowlife. I worked for a guy who was very similar, used company funds for work on his house and went bankrupt. He then opened a new company (in his wife's name) and took the staff back on a lower wage. | lennonsalive
02/8/2012 09:19 | Dear Further to previous correspondence regarding your account with Worldspreads, we are happy to confirm that the FSCS (Financial Services Compensation Scheme) have now started to release and distribute clients' funds. Obviously there are a lot of claims to get through, but if you have completed and sent in your FSCS Claim form, you should receive a cheque within the next couple of weeks. If you have any questions please contact us using the details below: Kind regards, hmmm we shall see :-) | taximania
01/8/2012 20:59 | correspondence says 6 months from when a/c valuation agreed with FSCS ... this was not done until July & is caveated in no end of ways | mattjos
01/8/2012 20:53 | Should be before 18/09/12. (Post 582 refers) | miata
01/8/2012 20:32 | within 6 months .. could be another 4-5 months to wait i believe :-( | mattjos
