28/11/2011 18:48 | Quite a strange large trade at 10p certainly a sell at well under the radar. Des you still holding. | battlebus2
09/11/2011 21:18 | Des told you Rose was a fabulous CEO. Great to see her hands on and not many would reply while in the U.S. I always look forward to the January statement as it's a quiet month elsewhere in my portfolio. Time to write off everyones debt and start again perhaps. | battlebus2
09/11/2011 20:59 | Coincidentally I've just had an email reply from the CEO who is currently over in the US office. As usual there will be a trading update in January. In the meantime she says that the restructuring of the business is having the desired effect and that there have been some good contract wins in certain sectors whilst other sectors remain more cautious given the macro outlook. In short, I think more or less what we were supposing. It remains a slow burner that has the potential to generate large profits and command a much higher share price if we ever get any economic confidence back. Clearly it is a very cyclical share but the time to buy these is at the bottom of the cycle. The question is whether we are currently at the bottom of a cycle or whether the western world is coming to an end. If not the latter then it's hard to see how this share will not recover sharply in due course. | deswalker
09/11/2011 20:34 | Well that's what we have here great management. Funny i was looking at that recruiter website too! No mention of that EBT trade yet lol. If you have a long term strategy like myself this is certainly time to buy at 17p. | battlebus2
09/11/2011 19:53 | As far as I can tell their strategy is to reduce costs in the Work Comms business whilst gearing up the Armstrong Craven business. I gather there will be some exceptionals in the second half numbers for downsizing at Work Comms but that this will filter back in reduce costs next year. As for Armstrong Craven they added some headcount in the first half and also some more headcount back in July and August I believe. However, it is encouraging to note that as recently as 1 Novemeber they were looking for another full time hire via The Recruiter website. I can't see them doing this on top of recent additions if the Armstrong Craven business wasn't developing nicely. I doubt the numbers for this year will look too great once the exceptionals are netted off but they would seem to be very well positioned for next year if we get any respite from the global macro gloom. The turmoil that many small companies are going through in order to adapt, survive and position themselves for growth would be fascinating to watch if one wasn't directly invested. Good management is absolutely vital at times like these. | deswalker
09/11/2011 19:09 | Funny how 5k can take the shine off this. | battlebus2
01/11/2011 17:47 | Agree bb. Nice buy at full ask but obviously pre-arranged as no price move. EBT would seem likely. | deswalker
01/11/2011 17:43 | Large trade today 185k could be the EBT again or a large investor adding. | battlebus2
19/9/2011 17:16 | Sounds good to me Des. | battlebus2
19/9/2011 08:25 | Hi bb - Spoke to the CEO. She was very upbeat. IMO this is definitely one to keep faith with. | deswalker
19/9/2011 07:22 | Ah i spoke too soon Des! | battlebus2

23/7/2011 22:07 | Hi Kimball808 i,ve taken myself off to the USA for a month on holidays so that maybe explains my unusual quiet period! Back on Thursday so a lot to catch up on. The trading statement looks good imv with lots of upside to come. These are quite easy to deal in by phone with your broker but online they will only offer tiny amounts. Work Group (WORK.L) 22nd July 2011 Confident H1 trading update in line with expectations Support Services NFI was up 7% y-o-y at £6.4m (£6m). Balance sheet remains strong with no debt. Management is confident that full year expectations will be met. Work Group is an interesting investment proposition offering blue chip clients an alternative method of recruitment and talent management to that offered by traditional staffing agencies. Our full year forecasts call for a 7.4% rise in NFI and a 22% increase in adjusted PBT. On this basis the shares are selling on a PER of 11.4x which falls to 6.8x in 2012. However deducting an estimated 6p cash per share from the price brings the PER down substantially. Buy - price target 25p giving a 25% upside from the current price. Says it all really now back to the pool. | battlebus2
22/7/2011 12:48 | Ahh so this is where you are hiding BB2...;-) This looks a very interesting and undervalued company. Shame about the beastly spread. Are shares traded in this company... been a week or two since the last transaction, my on line broker will not offer a bid price. Their webpage under development so will try and delve deeper into what they do (recruitment agency?) later. But fundamentals look exciting. Will watch and learn the time being. 22/7/2011 06:49 | Solid trading update. | deswalker
29/6/2011 07:11 | Just noticed a small tick up yesterday on no volume. Very nice :) | battlebus2
21/6/2011 17:29 | Great to see this rising as Craw is sinking. Seems you were right Des about the high street and economic headwind. | battlebus2
21/6/2011 10:30 | I hope you're right. I'd be very happy to accept a takeover premium in a couple of years and leave others to value and execute any global GARP'y style expansion. Fingers crossed it corrects to those sort of levels. | deswalker
21/6/2011 10:24 | Not sure. I think its more likely (considering the shareholding) that they'll look for a buyer when the recovery is in place. | stemis
21/6/2011 10:01 | Agreed. They also had some net-debt back then too. To me this company feels like it has much bigger global ideas than even triple the market cap would suggest. It feels like the big holders on the register are all of the same opinion and are happy to try and execute this strategy over the next five years or so. I don't expect too much in the way of divis if they feel they can better use the funds for geographic expansion. Nice to see the tick up. | deswalker
21/6/2011 09:53 | As a former plc FD, I would be surprised (and disappointed) if WORK have allowed their NOMAD to put a forecast out first without commenting on it. To be fair, although 3.0p looks a big step up, its just £1.1m PBT. In 2007 WORK did PBT of £3.4m and an EPS of 7.8p (which is why the share price was in the 80's) | stemis
21/6/2011 08:08 | After their appointment as nomad on 27/4 Merchant Securities have now produced a set of forecasts (so there must be a note somewhere). These are dated 17/6 and so will be subsequent to a discussion with the company after the recent AGM. For 2011 they maintain the forecast of the old nomad Altium - £0.7m PBT equating to 1.8p EPS. However, for 2012 they have a forecast of £1.1m PBT equating to 3p eps !! Now as we discussed before it could be argued that a 2012 forecast is just a place holder at this stage and consequently Altium were erring on the side of caution with relatively weak growth for 2012. However Merchant Secs are forecasting over 50% PBT growth for next year and surely they wouldn't do this without some sort of chat with the company first. Good news anyway :o) | deswalker |
