Just realised Deloittes are breaking the law as they havent got commercial EPCs for the properties they are marketing. It is illegal to market a property without one.

andrewlewis-No further news seen.

Regarding administrators, I expect their operations will be looked into, but for Woolworths & many others it will be a case of shutting the stable door after the horses have bolted. Getting approx. 10%-20% of the value of a company seems to be the accepted thing.

also lease surrender to landlords being charged for £1500 plus vat

and for the privelige of collecting this info, they charge a paltry £22,000 per hour

their aim is to ensure there is diddly squat for shareholders and more bumf for their xmas party

I wonder if the authorities will crack down on the excess of the Administrators and make them more accountable. They certainly haven't gotten very far with the banks.

I still don't know what assets of WLW are still unsold and what they are worth?

Your views are greatly appreciated.

To show everyone what administrators get upto - roll-on Deloittes:

Courts collapse fills KPMG coffers:

KPMG charged £32 an hour for "work experience" staff and £600 an hour for qualified staff.

Courts' creditors will get as little as 4p for every £1 they are owed (£600k out of the £94m owed) while KPMG get their full £35m in fees.

+

KPMG coporate finance arm recieved £4.3m in fees.

+

KPMG transaction service recieved £211,985 in fees.

+

KPMG Grand Cayman office recieved £459,165 in fees.

+

KPMG Malaysia got a futher £18,280

And the best part is still to come:

KPMG has refused to comment on the £289,316 of expenses covering Business class flights, subsistance and telephone bills.

18 February 09 :-

LONDON (Dow Jones)--U.K. confectionary retailer Thorntons PLC (THT.LN) Wednesday said it is confident of replacing the business it has lost from the collapse of Woolworths PLC (WLW.LN), which in fiscal 2008 generated GBP4.6 million in sales for the company.

In a conference call with journalists, Thorntons Chief Executive Mike Davies also said he thinks the company is now attracting former Woolworths shoppers.

He said: "It is never good to lose a customer but we think there are opportunities for us to pick it (business) up elsewhere."

He pointed out that despite the loss of Woolworths as a customer, first-half commercial sales still managed to grow 8.9% to GBP32.4 million.

Davies said: "Woolworths creates a number of different sources of opportunity.

"We have a large number of stores in the same high streets as former Woolworths stores, so customers that would have gone to Woolworths are now coming to us and we think it is a good opportunity to pick up business in our own stores."
