Yes and relatively simple just follow them in and take the cash or sell when they do. Usually with NAV reporting and purchases made in a depressed market it is possible to approximate your potential profit in advance can't do that picking growth stocks! That said "you win some and you lose some". HRCO for example suspended after founders ran off with the placing cash and LWT got more for their assets than expected so still lots of unknowns to trip you up or make you smile.

Hazl, thanks for the Woodford XSG suggestion the chart looks inviting.

My intention here is to identify, follow and track institutional investors who:

* arbitrage between stock market value and a "hard" accounting asset value.

* are known to actively support and influence the board in pursuit of the same goal.

* have seen a discrepancy between an assets value in two different markets.

It's not exact and people like the Slaters and Richard Griffiths use many different strategies of which arbitrage is just one.

hi praipus yes you are right this is in his tech fund.I think he has been questioned of late but he has a tremendous following.To be fair I don't know much about him and this side of things arbitrageurs...I know nothing!

Hi Hazl, I don't know much about Woodford I haven't seen him on the register of many of the arbitrage candidates, I think of him as a growth company stock picker, do you think he's worth following?
