Looking at what Myrseth gave as his reason for recommending Wentworth, my Google translation reads: "...A 512 km long Chinese-financed pipeline which is under construction, however, [would open up] an imminent commercialization of Wentworth's resources," says Myrseth.

"Negotiations for deliveries to the pipeline starts 19 January, and [if] the company gets in place a gas sales agreement, the investment case is transformed completely. Then the Wentworth [would be] poised to earn the current market value of one year, which would make the stock of one of the world's cheapest"

I suppose he now questions if they will get the pipeline deal.

The share price jumped on January 18, even though it must have been known that the pipeline negotiations were imminent. Until the outcome of the negotiations is announced the price drop looks premature, although this sort of speculation is always poison for AIM stocks.

(The decline in Oslo may have finally turned this morning.)

Two RNSs from yesterday about a new appointment, which haven't been posted. They are both on Investegate at this link:

(Both links from 4th February.)

Let's hope he exercises those options. Oslo closed at 5.07 today, so he's already in the money!

He wouldn't join with an option package at a strike price equal to the day's share price if there was a placement in the offing, would he?

Subject: A well deserved share price increase.
On January 3rd our listed business member Wentworth Resources (ticker WRL in London AIM and Oslo Stock Exchange) wrote the following status update on Xtrainvestor:
"We are pleased to be a part of this community and we thank Lars and his team for building and managing the best investor/shareholder forum that I have ever been a part of or come across."
A few weeks later their share price is up close to 70%. We would like to believe that there is a connection between professional IR, praising Xtrainvestor and that share price increase ;)
We could add that in our stock picking competition for 2013 30% of all contestants picked Wentworth as one of their top 3.
Wentworth has been using Xtrainvestor as an investor relations tool for some time - and it seems to pay off. We believe more listed companies will follow their example in 2013.
Best regards
The Xtrainvestor team

WB - I share that thought - dont think we're finished here and could see further rises just on valuations alone. If there's any sniff of a bid out there this will rocket.

Quite a fun week. Started with disappointment (LHD) on Monday, before I noticed WRL had more than compensated. One is always tempted to double up on the loser by cashing the winner. But I don't think we're nearly finished here.

Sharp move up on Oslo when I logged on this morning. I suspect mms in Oslo expect continuing strong demand. Influential this Stig fellow.

"when the price settles back down again to around the 40p mark", long wait FtJ. If it does, I hope I will not be caught this time, as I was last time when I was still greedy at £1. Well done for getting out.

Good volume in Oslo.

Chris. I generally agree with you that WRL are an excellent little company, who will be one of the first to monetise their gas by selling into the local infrastructure (in fact are already doing so on a small scale). Add to this their long standing presence in East Africa and good relations with the local population. I have held this share before and sold out at around the pound mark quite some time ago, before the share price started slipping, and intend to buy back in again when the price settles back down again to around the 40p mark. In the medium term I feel they will be part of some kind of consolidation / M&A activity along with AEX /OPHR, and even if they go it alone, I think they are worth having in the portfolio. So they remain on my watchlist! ATB and IMHO

Chrismez, I actually agree with FtJ that Shell will not put their reputation at risk again going after another minnow, but certainly will have looked at Anadarko. (Anadarko themselves could gobble up WRL out of petty cash if they had to.)

I also think RDS would prefer to take control of someone else's project in East Africa, supply unlimited finance and scale it up, without necessarily a T/O. Having an option on this pipeline will be very valuable one day.

That August interview by the CEO of M&P is unusual, see above. If you haven't linked, check it out. (Listing in UK? Sacre bleu!)

No sign of an rns as yet. I would have thought tha wrl are a bit too small a player for shell to be interested. May be wrong though.

One word .... SHELL

Lost out on Cove to the Thais and known to be sniffing around on and offshore Tanz at the moment. If it is M&A activity as Wbodger reasonably suggests then the leading candidate will be Shell IMHO.

I think Cyman has found the explanation for today's sharp rise.Thin UK market following Oslo lead.Stig's fund managerial influence being mentioned in Norway.

The volume in Oslo was sizeable for a company with a market cap of around £46m.4.527m shares traded, value of NK22.163m
which is around £2.5m at current xrates or slightly less than 5% of the equity. From what i can discern, selling and buying was pretty evenly matched. This stock is still well off the highs that the stock hit in March of last year, of NK9.08 but well off the lows of NK2.58. The stock went as high as NK5.39 but closed just over NK5 which is around 56-57p equivalent.Tomorrow will be interesting.

Nothing happening on OPHR, AEX, Solo, Maurel Et Prom. Not to be argumentative cyman but this has the whiff of M&A activity. Undervalued, big players sniffing, fantastic acreage ..., no share price movement in players with adjoining acreage. ...

You rarely see a big move following a recommendation, however effusive. Yes this is undervalued but so is the whole sector.

I looked carefully at M&P, having belatedly discovered the reason for the T/O rumours in posts mentioned in posts 128 and 134. They go back to August 31, Bloomberg:

Logically, M&P should be interested in WRL but there doesn't appear to be anything to it. WRL kept its gain all day, so I will look for comment in market reports overnight, and meanwhile hope for some explanation that carries us up. Good luck all.
