Hi ArthurGood to hear from you. I have enjoyed looking through your Value thread. I have retired to Spain and am trying to find shares to provide me with income to live off.

Hi Ben, long time no hear, I hope you're well.

I started a thread on ADVFN to discuss value shares mainly. I haven't seen you over there but if you'd like to take a look the ticker is VALUE. There's some smart investors using it and so far it hasn't been ruined by idiots. I'm not a bluey so I can only do so much but you're very welcome there.

Agreed, it would actually be nice if they communicated trading updates to help the market rather than long stretches of tumbleweed......

I still think WCW would be far better off as part of a larger Investment manager and there's been an awful lot of consolidation in the sector.

I bought a few more today and this is one of my largest investments. I take a lot of comfort from the fact that the market cap is underpinned entirely by cash and they pay a dividend.

At the moment it looks as close to a one way bet upwards as you're ever going to find.

I'm not sure why they're listed. It seems to be a company that is run for the benefit of the employees over the shareholders.

Was doing some rough sums in my head.

They're making c.£5m p.a of interest on client cash. Without which the company would be making serious losses.

That must mean they (actually the clients) are sitting on over £100m of client cash.

Not necessarily extreme, perhaps c.5% of client assets.

But wheres the incentive to encourage clients to invest their excess cash? Even if they arent 'double dipping' are they more incentivised to earn interest on clients cash, rather than earn management fees from clients investing that cash?

Improve margin?

They made £2,668,000 from client cash, up from £879,000

Client's cash!

But the FCA consumer duty is doing what these firms wont, and so WCW have had to say in the results 'we plan for downward movement in this revenue stream'

This company appears to be run for the employees, not the shareholders.

Davy, thanks. I see what you've pointed out as opportunities to improve margin and unlock value

There's a lot to be concerned about in these numbers

Barker Poland itself, appears to be making more than the entire group.

Interest on client's cash, which somehow they get to keep, is way up, but profits aren't

12 financial planners for £1m of revenue? I know financial planning firms doing £1m of annual revenue from 1 or 2 planners

But, these are all numbers to September, and markets have done much better since then.

This is crying out to be acquired and a board and management layer removed.

A few thoughts came to my mind.EnOC - why is this not an overhead but being reporting as a revenue earning business, in turn showing a loss?Cash - what are they going to do with the growing cash? It's way more than its market capWhy not buy back shares? Increase dividends?Unlock value - on paper, it's undervalued, but how will it be unlocked?

This business is interesting given the multiples Asset Managers get sold for and cash on the balance sheet. I suspect the market is worried by who their clients actually belong to (ie the self employed associates or the business itself).

I’m to do a deeper dive into the company as it looks like a very cheap bolt on for one of the larger Wealth Managers.

Agree with some of the concerns, such as the interest they are creaming off clients accounts but the key to where the real value lies will be getting the financial planners in front of the clients and cementing the relationship.
