Shares of telecommunications companies rose slightly in anticipation of further deals in the sector. Investors are betting that 21st Century Fox's chances of receiving British government approval for full control of pay-television concern Sky PLC would be given a lift by a sale of assets to Walt Disney, boosting shares of Sky this week. Vodafone rose after analysts at brokerage Barclays boosted their rating on the British cellphone carrier, saying that investors were overly focused on issues, such as its ability to generate revenue from data plans, which are no longer relevant to its healthy growth prospects.
