Yep,a company supplying a great technology, but unfortunately struggling to identify a way to monitise it in a meaningfull manner, a veiled profits warning i suppose but could be a buying opportunity if u believe the contracts with adult industry will generate meaningfull revenue...

Looks like good progress being made

Got to say, I read the statement expecting another profit warning, but thankfully, it never came. That said, the bit in the statment concerning PPV films implies that revenue may be slow to emerge unless the clients begin to market more aggressively.

"It is clear that PPV films in the mainstream markets are likely to achieve
financial success only with significant promotion and marketing, which is the
responsibility of Vividas' clients"

Not sure it is being shorted as such just has gone down on low volumes hopefully can go up relatively quickly as they now appear to be signing deals that will be revenue generating in a few month time.

Not sure how many of the adult sites are actually currently using VDS videos.
VCX seem to have a few up and running. I see "Debbie Does Dallas" is charged at $9.99 using VDS and must get quite a few viewers purely as most people have heard the name banded around.

As the saying goes "where there is muck there is money"!!

Vividas, the video streaming company, has revealed uncertainty and knowledge gaps amongst broadcasters on monetising digital content. Most broadcasters surveyed are looking at online advertising models, but only 7 per cent consider Pay Per View (PPV) as a future revenue generator.

With 95 per cent of broadcasters confident that online content will take off, only 43 per cent of those surveyed currently offer online video. A further one third plan to implement online video by 2009. Further research conducted by Ovum shows that the growth of Video On Demand is set to grow by almost 100 per cent year-on-year in Western Europe. By 2009, VoD revenues are predicted to be worth $888.5m. The UK VoD market alone is set to contribute $189.57m, nearly 22 per cent of the European total. Despite most broadcasters focussing on advertising to facilitate free VoD, it is only one of four business models identified to monetise broadband video, the other three being: Subscriptions:, VoD rental and Download-to-own.

Andrew Wilding, European CEO at Vividas, says: "Broadcasters would do well to aim PPV models at advertisers, rather than relying on obtrusive adverts or trying to convince the consumer to pay for one-time content. By sponsoring online clips, advertisers will have the advantage of targeting individual users and the viewer gets to watch video online for free, which is a real win-win scenario."

The advertising PPV model would work especially well with streaming because advertisers can tell how many times adverts are viewed off the back of online video content and if content is forwarded to other users. Streaming also has the added advantage of eradicating storage issues for end users and helps to minimise bandwidth bottlenecks for ISPs struggling to cope with fat file downloads.

For what it is worth Teathers had a price target of 65p at the start of the year and have been upgrading them as the deals have been signed. I think they have a £1 target now.

I personally think they will be taken over.

mix - i've been watching too but regardless of company achievements, in the current market this slide can continue. Why? Because selling continues and stops will get hit; meanwhile buyers (like me) are reluctant to enter the market at present. don't bet the farm!

hi guys. i have been watching this share for a while and believe it has alot of potential. i am relatively new to this game so don't quote me.but to me the chart had resistance around 63 the mms droped it a little even though there was no reason in fact they were testing the resistance, they dropped it a little further this morning looking for stops even though there was no trades. i guess that somebody is shorting and so started a downward trend triggering stops, depending on whether people get scared and sell up or some good news comes out will dictate the movement direction. i am long on this and believe this technology could be massive if it takes off and it looks like these guys are doing everything right. i don't think results will be bad. does anyone else have an opinion on this?

Talking of contracts I wonder how many of the 30 "ordinary" film contracts that were in negotiations in the July trading update have been signed?

Contracts I thought have come through faster than I had thought. Revenues obviously were hit by the xovod being illegal in NZ and hence the announcement earlier this year.

Adult was supposed to be the initial cash generator which now seems to be happening since the xovod one year exclusivity agreement ended in August. I don't know how big these particular players are in the industry though?

Will be interesting to see what news Spike has.

Adult films are sucha money spinner, I can't see that only one or two studios will be using the product - they'll all want it or be left behind.

Good time to top up.

Had a quick squint at VCX website at looks as if 200 films have been encoded. They have films such as "Debbie Does Dallas" which they say is one of the most viewed films ever!!!

Monty,
Certainly looks that way. Someone told me that adult content represents about 30% of internet usage, so could well be very profitable.

spike- not missed an rns at all and sorry if misinterpreted. No I don't think Sony are doing anything on film library at the moment just that it would be a logical progression.I was suggesting that by having the vividas "bridge" the likes of Sony would have the vertical integration package from film to end user and have full digital right management to their films as well.

Wil be very interested in feedback from IBC. Might stimulate some interest again.

Monty: have I missed an RNS? I was not aware Sony's film library was available using VDS.

Best wishes - Mike
