03/7/2007 17:56 | Coming to a small screen near you: new films that bypass the cinema Independent producers are putting their movies straight on the internet Katie Allen, media business correspondent Tuesday July 3, 2007 The Guardian | the analyst
03/7/2007 17:56 | Movie Pol enables Movies to Premiere Online Her MoviePol site, which launches at the end of the summer, is a direct response to frustration at trying to battle past the blockbusters to get her films shown in US cinemas. [via The Guardian] "Run "virtually" between Los Angeles, London, Toronto and her office in the south of France, MoviePol hopes to be every film fan's local art house cinema when it launches. Its first films were selected by critics as deserving of a wider showing than they got. ... The spread of broadband and the advent of piracy-protected video playing systems is encouraging growing numbers of stymied producers and distributors to bypass cinemas and, as they put it, "democratise" the system. ... Most of those involved admit it is early days for the online release model and that if the experiments take off they will establish an additional medium to cinema, not a replacement. Still, watching films online should no longer be seen as the preserve of tech-savvy enthusiasts, says Andrew Wilding at Vividas, the video streaming specialist powering MoviePol: "People now are very comfortable with the digital world," he says. "It's not just the nerds who are watching it." | the analyst

03/7/2007 07:47 | RNS Number:5248Z Vividas Group plc 03 July 2007 Tuesday 3 July 2007 VIVIDAS GROUP PLC Board Change Vividas, the video streaming technology company, announces that it has accepted the resignation of David Charles Winter as a Director of the Board of Vividas with immediate effect. He remains an employee and has assumed additional executive responsibilities. Dave, who is based in Melbourne, Australia, has been Chief Technology Officer of Vividas since its flotation on AIM in March 2005 as well as CEO of the Group's Australian operations and a member of the Group Operating Board. Dave will now have the additional responsibility for the larger region of Asia Pacific as the Group looks to expand its operations into the Asian markets. The Asia Pacific region is expected to become a major contributor to the Group and Dave's experience in both sales and technology, coupled with having lived in Hong Kong during his formative years, makes him the ideal candidate to develop the Group's presence in this territory. The commitment required to perform the dual roles of Group CTO and CEO Asia Pacific would be too much for any one individual. Dave and Vividas are very excited at the opportunity of generating growth in the Asia Pacific region where, in addition to the Australian operation, the Group is already operating through a Philippine reseller, Magneato, which has just signed an annual licence to take Vividas live encoders in order to launch an online TV channel. The Group is actively looking into JV opportunities in the other Asian markets. Vividas is also pleased to announce the appointment of Jeff Paine as VP Global Product Development, based in London. Jeff, who joins the Operating Board, will have responsibility for the development of the Group's product portfolio as well as ensuring the Group has a full understanding of the market segment and customer requirements. Jeff was previously VP Strategic Marketing for UT Starcom, California, where he was responsible for developing and implementing market, product and business strategies for the $4B China-based technology company to adapt the company's newest products and solutions to the needs of service provider customers in Europe, the US and Latin America. Jeff was one of Cisco's first 100 employees, working for it from 1989 to 2005, becoming Director of Corporate Marketing. Prior to this, he was Marketing Programs Manager for Intel Corporation. Paul Neville, Chief Executive, said, " We thank Dave for his enormous contribution and commitment to the plc Board since listing but now is the time to move quickly into the Asian market and Dave is the person who has the skill set and experience in that market to bring success for Vividas. As CEO Asia Pacific, Dave will remain a key contributor to the Operating Board. The appointment of Jeff as VP Global Product Development is a key appointment for Vividas and a role that the Company has needed for some time. The experience that Jeff brings with him will be invaluable to our success." | c5l

28/6/2007 18:52 | Looks like a new small contract. Would be nice to see some more long term contracts with big names like the Sony one which is now up and running. We then might be able to think about £1.50-£2 by Christmas. Market Cap is still nice and small so plenty of upside. | the_pimp
