sweepie2 - to be fair, I think we didn't dive today because we have already been hammered over the last few weeks for no reason that I can see. Does look like we have bottomed out a bit, but I am sure some of us will take advantage of any further drop.

xcap - that's what we are waiting for really isn't it, some news to prove we were smart enough to buy these when others were selling. If NL can't find a corker of a deal among all the market mayhem then who can. Tough finding investments to match the first two, but happy to wait until they come along.

Surprised that it stayed up all day as PPA and LDP went down today, must be people looking at the cash position and thinking all their likely targets have got alot cheaper in the past week

the more I read about PPA the more I feel that I may (gladly)have to eat my word; it may not have been a bad investment after all

"Pan Pacific is an aggregates business operating in the Fraser Valley close to Vancouver in Canada. This is currently one of the fastest growing areas in the region, with the local government committed to infrastructure development", plus yesterdays announcement.

PPA share price is beginning to show signs of life in line with the above, with target price of 24p. Even if we achieve 15p by next March and exercise the option (@ 5p) and exit out in total, that's a £2.1m net return on investment, not bad, and it does seems very achievable. all imo of course.
edit: that would be pretty close to about 1p NAV without any other value for future deals that may be done. there's a thought, a 200% return on current share price

xcap - got mine at 0.319p this morning, sadly the lowest I have paid for these, but looking forward to the next investment. Will ask about STGR when my relationshipo moves from calling him Mr Lee to Nicky :)

marn2 - PPA does seem to moving forward so you never know, but we still have about £3 million to play with so could be something totally new. Or both.

The last update said
The Company is seeking to make relatively significant investments with on-going involvement. Could it be PPA which the brokers have a target price of 24pence per share ?. maybe.

marab, try asking NL whether investing £500,000 in STGR is sound and see if the reply is as swift

I freely admit to being impressed. Sent an email to VIR pointing out that the share holder list was overdue for up dating and got an email from Nicholas Lee shortly after confirming it had been up dated. Now that's the kind of man you want running a company.

sweepie2 a few more for me too. There is a lot of news to come at some point and I would sooner buy them cheaply now and wait. Someone must be selling a fair few though for the share price to get this low.

I also see that its NL anniversary on 1/6/12, could you not celebrate this by releasing news of the next deal. Sometimes these dates do massage the ego

PPA showing signs of recovery yesterday and today, keep on giving good news, new BOD have released more good news in a month than the previous lot managed in five odd years. Jury still out on PPA though but it appears the odds are turning in PPA favour. Would like to see this deal that BRDY are working on as given the time they have had it must be a monster LOL and finally LDP must nearly be ready with an update from Manas(spelling might be wrong) so who knows this might be the bottom for Viridas

No idea what that PPA RNS means to their bottom line but you have to assume they aren't doing it on a charitable basis. Does make you wonder what else PPA are working on.

xcap - last year things just got worse and worse and stuff got silly cheap. This year is staring to look a bit similar so maybe worth sitting back a bit rather than jump straight in.

Local Area Plan, Shaw Pit

Pan Pacific Aggregates plc (AIM:PPA), the British Columbia based aggregates company, announces that at a Council meeting of The District of Mission on Monday 7 May 2012, the Council agreed to develop a Local Area Plan ("the Plan") for inclusion in the Official Community Plan for the Keystone Avenue aggregate operations.

The Plan will encourage a collaborative and complementary approach between local operators, including PPA, for the extraction and processing of the aggregates. The Plan will also address the afteruse and future development of the pits once exhausted. It allows PPA the opportunity to agree terms with other operators for PPA to operate other pits.

share_shark - that RNS for PPA is still not showing on my ADVFN monitor. For those that haven't seen it, have a look on Investigate, but it basically says,

Shaw Pit

Shaw Pit is an existing sand and gravel pit owned by The District of Mission. PPA has been selected by The District of Mission to operate the reserve, and the Company is currently in discussions to achieve an amendment to the Mines Permit to reflect the envisaged operational requirements. The extraction, processing and sale of aggregates will be operated by PPA.

Chairman, Lynda Chase-Gardener, commented, "We look forward to working with Shaw Pit's neighbouring operators to develop The District of Mission's Local Area Plan, especially with regard to processing and supplying into local concrete and asphalt manufacturing facilities."

xcap - a lot of good points in your post especially 'each investment must be looked at and assessed on its own merits'. I will invest for any period from minutes to years depending on the stock and its prospects, but VIR seems a good place to put some of my cash in the hopes that Mr Lee with his contacts will do a lot better than I will. Markets are getting edgy again so probably not a bad time to free up a bit of cash.
